<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Why Does the Michelle Obama Tape Rumor Match a 2006 Novel?

Sometimes, this rumor of this alleged tape of Michelle Obama denouncing “whitey” sounds like something out of a clichéd political thriller novel.

Actually, it sounds exactly like something out of a clichéd political thriller novel. Specifically, Stephen Frey’s The Power Broker, published in 2006 by Ballantine Books.

A major plot line of the novel is the presidential campaign of Democrat Jesse Wood, aiming to be the country’s first African American president — “Wood was handsome, smart, charismatic, and being mentioned increasingly often in the press as someone who could unite a twenty-first century America growing more, not less, racially and economically divided.” (p.35)

...

And by page 130, his opponents find a videotape that could ruin his candidacy…</div>

Barack also discredited it today, so you know it isn't true.

If theres a tape, it will become public at some point....obviously if its true, its damaging, but its not like shes running for President....

I just read that book a few weeks ago... I was thinking the same thing

O'Reilly said something last night that was very interesting, and spot-on. If the Republican Party or McCain go after Michelle Obama and not for a good reason, then they will be (rightfully) burned for it, and will lose the Presidency this year.

Why do people not listen to Air America radio or watch Keith Olbermann? Because hate constantly flows from there. If the GOP attacks Michelle, then people will ignore them. Let the voters decide if they like the Obamas or not.

There is no tape. If there was a tape, Obama wouldn't have denied there being a tape. He is too smart to play these denial games and then watch it eventually come out. If there was a tape, he wouldn't have denied it, and then have his campaign leak it early on so that there was no "October Surprise".

I find it amazing how people still believe the guys saying that the tape exists. First Michelle said it at a rally, than at Trinity United, then it was her saying it with Farakan with her at Trinity, then it was her saying it at a press conference with Farahkan, then it was her saying it in response to Katrina. The story keeps changing, yet sadly some keep believing.

your blind belief of a candidate, any candidate standing for public office, is more dangerous than a loaded gun in the hands of a toddler....all these guys will do whatever they have to get elected, the least of which would be to lie about whether a tape of an alleged racists rant exists....if a tape becomes public, you really think it will be worse because he said there wasnt one? wake up bro....

Well you can ignore logic, which says there is no tape, and throw out rhetoric trying to discredit logic, and then go on to make up things that Obama said, while you hold your belief in a made up tape about Michelle Obama, and compare Barack Obama to a monkey.

What are you going to tell me next, that Barack Obama might be a muslim?

Well what evidence is there to being a tape. Tell me what evidence there is that leads you to believe that the tape exists.

I never said the tape exists, I said IF the tape exists, it will be damaging....you are the only one dealing in absolutes here, stating the tape doesnt exist.....perhaps you should learn to read

Bingo.

You are making hardline, baseless attacks with "your blind belief of a candidate, any candidate standing for public office, is more dangerous than a loaded gun in the hands of a toddler.". Yet, my support in the candidate is well grounded considering that the tape does not exist. You are implying that it does exist when you are making such statements.

Simple logic says the tape doesn't exist. The blogger has constantly changed their story, and now they are so outlandish that they are saying that the Rudy Guliani campaign has what isn't a tape....but a DVD!!! The part of the transcript that is in the circulating email is so preposterous. Michelle Obama is too intelligent to say those things. This is supposed to be from after Hurricane Katrina, are we really supposed to believe that a US Senator's wife...who there is a great buzz about in the party of being on the rise, who is also very intelligent is going to say these things?

Although there is no point further debating this with you, because it is quite clear that you are trying to run a small scale smear campaign against Obama.

The comparison to Curious George isn't an isolated occurrence. I haven't seen Chutney make hate fueled posts against McCain around here, but you have a history of spreading utter bullshit against Obama fueled from hate.

Way to cut out the entire post BG7. Beef was commenting on a picture in the thread, it was a joke, and you made it mean something completely different in here.

And uh, you seem to be religious. I have a completely off topic question. Do you believe the world is going to end in 2012? If you do, and if the world doesn't end, does your God not exist?

Hatred of Radical Racism? I guess im guilty as charged....Hatred of the political party that destroyed the black family? Im guilty again....Hatred of the party that damns family values in favor of feeling good at all cost? Wow, im guilty again....but when I wake up every day and look in the mirror, I know what I stand for, because its reflected in how I live my life, not in speeches written for me by others....If that makes me a hate-monger, im glad to be one.....

I don't think the Bible is a book that should be taken literally. With that said, I don't think there is anything in the Bible that says the world is going to end in 2012, that is the Mayan calendar, and I believe has nothing to do with the Bible.

Who are these radical racists you hate in the Democratic Party again?

My hatred of racism is not exclusive to those in the Democratic Party, although I do blame the Democratic Party for the current state of the family in this country.....there are racists in both parties as well as indepentents and non-party affiliates....Im not a Dem or a Rep....im a Jeffersonian Constitutionalist....I believe in the ideas expressed in the Dec. of Indepenence and the Constitution the way they wrote it....I believe all men are created equally with certain unalienable rights, among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness....I believe that government should not be involved in the church, and not the other way around....I believe in the right to bear arms and assemble peacfully....i believe that God should choose if a baby lives, not a woman....and i believe that its a fathers responisibility to take care of his family, not the governments....I hope that clarifies to you who I am a little better, so you can stop trying to impugn my intergrity everytime I disagree with you....ive taken the liberty of linking Dictionary.com at the bottom in case you need help understanding any of this....

Exactly, the Bible Code could be used to find anything. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 but their calendar is linear. The world will not end, according to their calendar, but there will be a change in the world order and the calendar will start over. The last time their calendar ended, Spanish conquistadors almost wiped them out. I'd say that would be considered a change in world order.

If there's a tape, it'd be best used (turn up in the public eye) right around ... November 4th or so.

October surprise!

Q: How do you know when a politician isn't telling the truth?

A: Their lips are moving

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BG7 Lavigne @ Jun 12 2008, 06:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>How is the Democratic Party responsible for the state of the family in this country? That is on the individuals.</div>

The Democratic Party, under the authority of 2 sitting democratic Presidents, Franklyn Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson, introduced programs that destroyed family values, particularly in the black community, by making it unnecessary for a father to be present to complete the family dynamic....these programs are known as "The New Deal" and the "Great Society" legislation....this and other liberal legislation, along with support laws, make it possible for woman to have sex with many men, outside the confines of marriage, and know that they will be taken care of....before these laws were enacted, single parents were very rare because it was such a struggle to survive as a single parent....the ones that were around were generally widows or widowers.....at that time, men took responsibility for their families and wifes stayed with them because they needed them.....that has not been the case for several decades....

If you need evidence, take a survey throughout your family and the family of your friends, the predominant scenario will be that your generation grew up in a 1 parent home, while your parents grew up in a 2 parent home.....of course that wont always be the case, but more often than not, it will....my parents split when I was 11 years old, my grand parents are still together on both sides....I fit into the scenario perfectly....

LOL, Beef.

I'm not a fan of FDR or the giant govt. social programs, but I wouldn't peg the issue of family troubles on the things you say.

The pressure is on people to marry and stay married because it takes two incomes these days to have the basic standard of living you used to have on one.

The invention of the "pill" may have a little to do with young men and women feeling like there's less risk of pregnancy if they have sex.

That said, I absolutely feel the Democrats have done nothing but harm to poor and black (poor being a code word for black) people while they struggled for progress. In fact, they've been the party of the KKK since the invention of the KKK (go figure). While in recent years, they pay lip service to policies to help black people, the result has been terrible rates of unwed mothers compared to other ethnicities, entrapment in a cycle of poverty spanning generations, horrible public schools in black neighborhoods, and that sort of thing. To this day, I cannot fathom why democrats think the education "system" is more important than educating the children, or why they oppose vouchers which black people REALLY want (and for good reason).

Democrats ran congress and the white house for 12 of the 20 years from 1960-1980 (both houses of congress for that whole time) and the result was 20% interest rates, 20% inflation, and 8% unemployment with top tax rates at 70%+. They ran congress and the white house for 2 years of the Clinton administration, too. It's not like they didn't have their chance to pass legislation to actually help "poor" people.

Most gains by black people (and women, too!) happened in the years from 1980 to the present. Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush. That'd be 8 years of democratic presidency, the rest republican. The senate was republican from 1980-1986 and from 1994-2006. The house was republican from 1994-2006 as well.

And I don't even like the republicans, I just call 'em as I see 'em.

Sadly even if there is a tape of Michelle Obama I highly doubt it will do any good. Democrats proved they could care less about the actual politics and issues of this campaign when they made Obama their nominee. He is quite possibly one of the most inept presidential candidates in history. I have never in my life heard someone talk so much without saying anything of substance. Great public speakers make good speeches, most of the time they are awful presidents.

I actually was making that comparison, but your argument is right nevertheless.

Good catch BG on the similarity to the novel. If Barack picks a Hedge fund manager w/ morals we may be in trouble.

This was not the best Stephen Frey Novel I've ever read; the whole Christian Gillette series is weak IMO.
