We have lemon trees, avocado trees and wild (I kid you not) tomatoes. I think we might just be able to go through this crisis on Guacamole.

Seeing a few stories during the last couple of days that because of the virus farmers aren't finding the labor they need to plant crops. That includes both the illegals who come here to work on our farms and the ones who apply for visas to work the farms.
This also appears to be a growing problem in many of the other countries we import fruit and vegetables from.
We might have food shortages.
I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to grow some food just in case.
Not much of a gardener. I think I planted pumpkins once as a kid.
A couple of questions. Thinking about knocking together some raised garden beds. I know the ones for potatoes should be a couple of feet tall but what about corn? Is a 2 foot tall garden bed deep enough or should I go 3 feet?
Can I mix different things together in the same garden bed or each type vegetable have their own?
Are you saying they’re going to run short on Kibble?
I made pizza for lunch today.Does anyone know how to grow pizza and burritos?
Asking for a friend.
just spuds!Do you all grow different varieties of potatoes?

Put seed in hole.
Water.
Vegetable's fall off everywhere. Duh
I am. You can walk to Winco from my house. It will take a good amount of time but you can do it. Pushing a stolen shopping cart uphill would suck. After seeing the picture of your lawn I can tell you're a master gardener!
Thanks!
I love fresh corn on the cob. Maybe I'll just plant a few in case corn gets diverted to livestock.
I think it is most likely more of a modern thing anyway. Cars are reliable and run forever. Tires rarely go flat really. You don't really need to know how to take care of things like that today. You don't get stuck somewhere if you can't.
Gardening is one of those same things. My grandfather had an amazing garden. I remember watching him hang off the handles of a giant rototiller when I was a kid. I know the basic idea of gardening but have had no reason to really want to learn it.

You did know I was making fun of Bloomberg right?
The property my grandfathers garden was on is still in the family. I was going to see who wanted to get it going again in Ridgefield as long as you shared with my grandma.
I think her land is only a couple of acres but his garden fed our entire extended family with stuff to spare.
Partly fenced. It would probably need to be redone. Behind where the barn and garden used to be we had cows. The barn was leveled 15 years ago or more. Next to the barn was the garden. I'd say it was 40-60 feet wide by maybe 100 feet long. Damn I miss the corn on the cob he grew. And the green beans. MmmmmmmmmFenced? Pasture? Can we raise a cow?

Unfortunately the other side of the family sold 125 acres of dairy farm that is now having homes built on it. For Californians...ewwwwwwww!!!
Yes.Ridgefield?
Yes.
So who’s growing weed?
This is what kills me. If the timing was right it could have been 125 acres of weed and I'd be retired. So who’s growing weed?
My senior class was 85-90 kids in the 90s.Fuck that area has changed. It's crazy.

That's not too big. Still small enough that nobody ever forgot what dumb shit you did in school. Remember a scene on The Simpsons where Bart saw Ralph Wiggum snap for some reason right in class? My senior class was 120 at Gladstone.
And no it wasn't me. I didn't do that until I was 20 something. It was traumatic then too. That's not too big. Still small enough that nobody ever forgot what dumb shit you did in school. Remember a scene on The Simpsons where Bart saw Ralph Wiggum snap for some reason right in class?
I saw a kid snap in kindergarten. The poor thing went 2 in his pants and the teacher changed him into a diaper and made him finish the day in a diaper and a t shirt.
That kid was fucked up from day one. We even made peanut butter in that class. Nobody was allergic to PB then as far as anyone knew.
Today you'd kill 3 kids.
Makes great hillbilly toilet paper
Thank you for this thread! This is the third summer I’ve had my house and every year I tell myself I’m gonna start a garden..then next thing I know it’s too late. Really no excuses this year, I have plenty of time! Anyone grow chili peppers? Scotch bonnet, jalapeño, anything?
