This deserves its own thread...

Was that the worst post-game interview in the history of ever?

MB was like - "wing it, you'll be fine.."

That bastard set Rice up for that trainwreck.

I like that he basically asked, "Man, how about that game?" twice to LA.

Rice was awesome in a senile way, and the players did a good job covering for him. MB sounded like he'd give any player he talked to a 4-game vacation with a bottle of Robatussin, so I'm glad Rice did most of the interview. He's fine when scripted; all the ad reads MB normally does, Rice did great at.

Yeah, MB sounded like death warmed over tonight. Too bad it wasn't a home game. It would have been cool to hear Shonz fill in for him tonight.

BNM

And yeah, interviews aren't Rice's thing, but good for him giving it his best shot. At least Aldridge and Rolo did their best to cover for him. At least they were upbeat after the win. That interview would have been 1000x worse if we would have lost.

best part was lma doing the robot. lmao.

...anyone have a video of this post-game interview?! :dunno:

I loved the interview style of Mike Rice. It wasn't the cut and dry style that so many teams/broadcasters do.

Yeah I didn't mind the Rice interview. He doesn't do that often so he was a little rusty, but it had a non-scripted genuine feel to it.

I loved at halftime when MB sent it back to the guys in the studio, saying: 'now we'll send it back to Portland where we have two people with voices' and Rice added 'yeah because they don't do anything!'.

I'll give Rice a break though.

Totally not his forte - he's all about analyzing, not interviewing.

RoLo had two saves last night - the game .......and Rice.

This. He did fine. In fact, I prefer his style to every one else's attempt to be slick and packaged. He's enthusiastic. He's happy. He's casual. He's friendly. He's a fan. He's your grandpa. What's not to like?

Honestly, that bears repeating. Watch any sporting event, college football, NBA basketball, whatever, the talking faces ask the stupidest, most mundane, and what's worse, LEADING questions at halftime and at the end of the game. It's just so pointless and meaningless. They literally give the coaches and players the answer, only in question form. I SMH every damn time.

I'll take Mike Rice for the WIN!

Am I mistaken or did Rice call the Blazers the Pacers on his game interview with LA and Rolo? No denying Rice's basketball knowledge but I'm not a fan of his stumbling, off track interview style. When fans send him questions or guest ask him questions on a podcast, he wanders off topic and never answers the question. I know he's been around a long time but Rice needs to retire

Who cares? Mike rice is awesome. Plus, you know he wants to go full on f-bombing during games like last night (like most of us did).

He is a fan, bottomline. That's how we would've interviewed last night as well lol

I have no problem with Rice being a fan. My problem is he is not a good interviewer or broadcaster and that's what he's paid to do.

He's not paid to announce. He is paid to analyze the game. I think he does a damn fine job

He may not be great, but he is genuine. Something the sports world is missing. I much prefer my broadcaster of my home team to be biased and a bit of a nut job, makes wins feel better and losses hurt less.

The day the Blazers and Mike rice part ways will be a tough day, you just can't replace crazy.

Unless... Is rasheed Wallace available? Lol

If I had to choose to not watch the team play or listen to these guys, I would rather not watch the game.

I have to agree to disagree. analyzing games should require some skill at pronouncing players names and staying focused. I've wanted to see Rice replaced for years now. I lobbied for the organization to make a run at Tas Melas before he joined NBA tv. The job requires a talent for detail and Rice would be fine in Michael Holton's job but I think he's lacking broadcasting skills.

Wow. I couldn't disagree more. Rice makes the game fun to listen to. When it's all intense, it's good to have a guy who knows his stuff and can lighten the mood a little bit. He's a really good analyst. I'm sorry you don't get to enjoy it.

I know he's popular with most fans. If I can watch a game I mute Mike and Mike and listen to Wheels. Now Wheels is my kind of broadcaster. I enjoy every game. I've accepted that Rice and his history here are not going away, I laugh at him pretty often and always credit his knowledge of the game but not his skills with a microphone.

He mentioned the upcoming Pacers game, he didn't call them the Pacers. I'm curious if you have a chance to watch other teams local broadcasts? I've said it before and I'll say it again.....go watch. I'll tell you Mike and Mike are in the top 5 of league announcers as a tandem. EASILY!

Who cares if he can pronounce the players names. That's what make him enjoyable and fun to watch. The fans he's talking to can't pronounce their names either. He's the kind of guy you would want to either be sitting on the bar stool next to you or on the couch watching the game with. The NBA is FULL of boring, cookie cutter, vanilla color analysts. Like I said go watch Detroit, Memphis, Utah etc etc........I could keep naming boring, put you to sleep announcers if you'd like.
