I still say it's pretty likely that Miles gets signed this year.

I would do it a heartbeat if I were an owner. Portland really has a lot of options if he remains unsigned, but pretty much has to renounce a lot of people if he signs. Either that or make a trade for Raef and eliminate the whole thing.

I disagree. Roster spots are to valueable to waste on Miles and many owners are feeling the pinch of the economy so they wont be as willing to open up their checkbook.

I think we'd have a pretty strong case to make about keeping our cap space if Miles is signed and plays this year. The intent of the rule is different than the letter of it. It was put in to keep teams from circumventing the cap by cutting a player for medical reasons and then re-signing him at a lower rate. No one foresaw this situation.

And he needs to play in 10 games, right?

And a player can only be signed to two 10 day contracts, right?

So he'd have to sign with TWO teams to get to 10 games or he would have to sign for the rest of the season... I don't find that likely at this point.

Why? You have to guarantee his deal, have a roster spot available, and sit him on your active roster for 10 games before he even hits the court.
