British number three Kyle Edmund progressed to round two of the Millennium Estoril Open with a straight sets 6-3 7-5 win over Daniel Gimeno-Traver of Spain.

Garcia-Lopez, Mathieu Win In Estoril

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez hung on and Paul-Henri Mathieu played the role of Portuguese spoiler on Tuesday at the Millennium Estoril Open.

Garcia-Lopez was leading by a set and 5-1 in the second against German Michael Berrer. But Berrer crawled back into the match and forced a second-set tie-break, where Garcia-Lopez ultimately prevailed to win the match 6-3, 7-6(3).

Mathieu had the President of Portugal attending his match against Portuguese Gastao Elias, who cracked the Top 100 in the Emirates ATP Rankings for the first time this week. Elias' ranking jumped 23 spots after he won the Torino Challenger in Italy on Sunday. But it was Mathieu who advanced on Tuesday, winning 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 31 minutes.

Kyrgios Wins NextGen Match Against Coric

For now at least, Nick Kyrgios holds the upper hand against his fellow #NextGen star Borna Coric. In their first tour-level meeting on Friday, Kyrgios served freely and blasted forehands to breeze past Coric 6-4, 6-4 and move into the semi-finals of the Millennium Estoril Open.

Butorac/Lipsky To Face Top Seeds In Estoril Final

Fourth seeds Eric Butorac and Scott Lipsky will play for their third team title on Sunday at the Millennium Estoril Open. The Americans downed second seeds Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi 6-4, 7-5 in 74 minutes. They landed 71 per cent of first serves and saved six of eight break points faced. Last year, Lipsky and Huey teamed to win the inaugural edition of the Estoril Open.

Almagro Rallies for Estoril Title

Nicolas Almagro stormed back from a set down to win the final of the Millennium Estoril Open 6-7(6), 7-6(5), 6-3 against fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta. Almagro earned his first tour-level title since Nice 2012. It was the 30 year old’s 13th ATP World Tour title.
