What the fuck is wrong with you, Nate? Why is it crap for people of color to be chosen? Percentages don't matter. What about the centuries of time that POCs got to do none of this? I'm not gonna call you names but re-read your post. It's textbook racism. Not to mention sexist (i.e. You saying it's crap if women don't wear swimsuits in a contest that has chosen to redefine itself).
There is nothing wrong with people of color being chosen. If they are the best candidate than good for them. What I find highly suspect is that the majority of the court, year after year, is 90% minority in a city that is known to be one of the whitest in the country. That to me smacks of political correctness and social justice warrior bullshit.
I want people to be chosen because they’re the best candidate. Not because they’re black or white or Asian or Latino or Muslim or Christian etc.
Let me give you an example. If there were 12 jobs open with the same company in different parts of the city, and for every job there were five candidates, four out of the five were minorities, with one white person. If 11 out of the 12 jobs were filled by white people, you’d claim racism, right? Those 11 white people would have beaten 44 minorities for those positions and any sane person would say it was fishy.
I don’t want racism of any kind. I don’t want people to be handed something if they’re not the best candidate. I don’t want to see people who worked their ass off be told no because they happen to be the wrong color. If that makes me a racist.... well...... I don’t know what to tell you.
I see a nation that is so completely caught up in political correctness that they don’t care about fairness. Maybe I’m completely wrong and those girls were all the clear cut best candidates for the job. Maybe I’m an asshole. Actually, I am an asshole, but I’m still entitled to my opinions.
