I had to go off the meds for a while because it made me lose my voice, but I am on different ones now, so fingers crossed
The reason this is not OT is because I would like to explain my stance on a few things
1. Leonard
I like Leonard, and think he has the chance to be a decent scoring center, as well as a decent rebounding center. I'm not sure however if he will ever be the rim presence we need though in the playoffs. It's till really early, but so far in his young career and in college he was never an intimidating force in the middle
2. Draft pick over playoffs
Obviously making the playoffs would be great for the team, and if they did it would be very exciting. However, I still feel Portland is a few pieces away from being a serious team, and in a small market the best way to add those players is through the draft. Either to keep or to make a lopsided trade with.
3. Hickson
I love JJ's hustle, and think he is an elite rebounder. He could certainly help us next year off the bench, but I feel if he is our starting center next season that would be bad. I also feel that if he is still on the team after the deadline that his minutes should be cut back to make room for both Leonard and Freeland to see if either can be a factor for us
4. American born white centers and players from Syracuse
I realize better than any of you that these two philosophies are silly. I also realize that it is not 100% surefire, like anything in life. However, in most cases drafting those players in the lottery has given the team that drafted them less production than what they were expecting. Assuming the meds work, and I don't need to stop these as well, this should not be a topic going forward
I hope I have articulated this better with the meds.
