I just wonder when we can start questioning this draft pick. He's played worse than Meyers Leonard did as a rookie, yet was drafted higher than Leonard.

Seems like CJ has a lot to prove next season. Was he worth the pick at this point?

Not worried about CJ. Unlike Meyers, he's actually shown flashes of competence and know how.

Not worried about CJ at all. He has a little bit of Lillard in him. Just going to take longer to show. Basically a lost year since he had to play catch up after his injury.

From what I've seen of CJ, I think the kid is extremely intelligent. I think he has a very polished game, but I also think he's a guy who has barely played in two years. He missed most of his last year of college, right? And then he missed the first two or three months of the NBA season. That's going to set a rookie back.

Also, the one thing to be concerned about is that his game is very much predicated on being able to get past his man. He does a lot of pull-ups, drives and scoop shots. The problem is, his first step seems a little slow. I think he's struggling to get past his man in the NBA. He looks great in Summer League, NBDL or college, but at the pro level everyone is fast. He's going to have to adjust his game, or he'll fall by the wayside.

Hmm, I was against the idea of CJ at first because I thought it replicated too much of what Damian brings to the team. I thought you were one of the guys telling me he was going to be good. That was a while ago though, so I could definitely be wrong.

CJ was given a lot of time to earn the back up 2 spot in the rotation but ultimately, and it was close, the job went to the more experienced, more deserving Will Barton. Stotts is sticking with it the rest of the way.

He was given the starting job on an awful team and was allowed 40mpg, no serviceable backup to compete with for minutes, to just do his thing win or lose. What if CJ was given the same circumstance? What if he didn't get hurt and say, Wes Matthews did, and we just gave him the ball And 40 mpg and said shoot whenever you like? He'd probably be rookie of the year.

It used to be really common for a rookie to have very low expectations in their first year. I was reading Charles Barkley's book and he talked a lot about his time in Philly. He said he had to really struggle to get playing time on a veteran team with Dr. J and Moses Malone, etc.

Worse than Meyers AS A ROOKIE. Meyers had a decent season last year and was UR best player off the bench. He had some great games, especially down the stretch. He did way more than CJ has done this year. That was PapaG's point and that is fair.

Like i said, i could give two shits about his stats during garbage playing time during the 13 game losing streak. He sucked last year, he sucked this year, and he will be out of the league in 3 years

He produced more than CJ in his rookie year. And he won't be out of the league in 3 years. He'll be rounding into shape. There will always be a role for a person his size. He will have a nice long career I'm sure.

To say he had "many" good games is an exaggeration. He had a handful of good games, enough to say that he was raw but promising. He did not have very many good games this year at all. That's why many of us feel he has actually regressed.

add 17 more wins in the 38 games played... that means, with Meyers in there at any point in the game, the team is 43-64 (Quick math in my head, may be off).

So, there's that.
