The last six months in the career of Trail Blazers forward Moe Harkless can be summed up by one cruelly ironic statement: It was the move to start Harkless, in late March 2016, that marked the turning point of the Blazers becoming a truly competitive basketball team, and yet that competitiveness is the very reason Harkless is likely being relegated to the Portland bench again this fall. In a vacuum, none of this makes any sense, but it's sadly true...

I'm sure he's up for the challenge.... But he should defintetly get a good look this year... I love that guy!

Neil's waiting on the Philadelphia 76ers to decide on Nerlens Noal or Jahlil Okafor trade. That won't happen till the trade deadline.

No he's not. What would we trade there? Nothing they want and nothing we should give up.

Pops has his guys accept less playing time and they say, "thank you." Moe will find his role and we'll read a piece in the Oregonian about how "he's found his niche."

(Jokes on you. Like I would ever read a crusty gym sock rag like the Oregonian.)

Everyone should fight for rotation spot that would make the team better.

Absolutely. Plus you have to have depth to survive a long season.

Yes Mo, ET and Crabbe are all fighting for minutes, but 2 of those will get minutes at SG as well. We need 4 players for the 2 wing spots, and as far as I can see CJ, Crabbe, ET, and Harkless are those 4. I can't see him not being in the rotation to start the season.

Your right and i do believe Harkless will be in the rotation and depth is a plus due to injuries and given someone rest for the night.

We are very deep, there are multiple people that will have to fight for any and all playing time and thats a big reason a consolation trade is pretty much written on the Blazers schedule this year.

Yeah but only in the front court. PG, SG, and SF we really don't have any extra players to trade unless Layman comes out of nowhere to earn SF minutes. (Which is possible but unlikely)

So that leaves the C/PF spot for a consolidation trade where we have Ezeli and Plumlee at center......and Leonard.
And Aminu and Davis at PF.......and Vonleh

I guess you could do a 3 for 1 trade, if the player coming back was a big man.

Leonard(against my better judgment) Plums, Vonleh for DMC, plus a pick or two? Would that get it done?

Dame/CJ/Napier
CJ/Crabbe
Turner/Harkless/Laymen
Aminu/Davis/Harkless
DMC/Ezeli

Is that a contender in the west?

I think so.

Is that a contender... yes
Is that package going to get us DMC? HA! for the best big man in the game?!... uhh no.... gunna require at least cj on top of that even then thats probably not enough these hypotheticals are only interesting if they actually live in the realm of possibility.

If we package AC and lenoard and plums for Adams and maybe Sabonis or a 1st that might live in the realm of possibility. Anything getting us DMC without giving up a core piece is just laughable.

Maybe it was the international game that made it him look ineffective on defense, or maybe he was not trying, but for whatever reason I was not impressed with DMC in the Olympics. Can he be the best big man in the game if he is average at best on defense?

I do think it is hard for bigs to exert a lot of energy on defense when they are working so hard on the offense end. This is one reason why I am a fan of the center by committee strategy. We might be better off with having lots of depth at that position instead of consolidating.

Not if he is demanding a trade and Sac wants him out. Then his value in the trade decreases significantly even if his value to the team he is traded to is really high.

Lopsided trades have happened because a guy demands it and usually that team gets little in return or not even close to fair value because of the public demand.
Highly unlikely, sure. Laughable and a pipe dream? I dont think so.

We need a consolidation trade but could be simply trading a rotation big for a backup SG. We need to be able to sit both Dame at CJ at the same time

Don't we have plenty of back up SG's? (i.e Crabbe and Turner) or did you mean back up PG?

We need 15 players and we need depth. How does a consolidation trade fit into that?

I laughed when I saw Kendrick Perkins is still unsigned anywhere...OKC could sign him for a pack of chewing gum

What makes you guys so sold on Harkless? Other than he's been in a Blazers uniform for a couple years now.

Umm... because he was actually a reason we did good in the 2nd half? I don't know, watching the games? I mean, these are all things you could have seen.... We don't need to help you out with -everything-.

Come on he was the catylist to our success last year! If he steadies out his jumper like aminu has since becoming a blazer watch out cause he's already our best athlete his rebounding and defense are on an elite level oh and did I mention he's fucking 23! A good 4 years from his peak there really isn't a reason not to be excited about the kid.

They have both been linked to the Blazers in the past as a player of interest.
Lemme guess, by Sportrageous? Or the Patent Herald? Or another fake BS sight where the writer passes off his suggestion as a "rumor"?

Crabbe, Harkless, Plumlee, and two future 1sts would be the only possible middle ground.

A couple years???

You're just not trying hard enough.
  • His jump shot is below average
  • His handle is suspect at best
  • His motor is inconsistent
  • He disappears on the court at times
  • He's somewhat of a 3/4 tweener
If you make an effort, you can easily find a reason to not be excited about the guy.

I prefer to ignore those reasons and be excited about him anyway.
