Jeez man I feel bad for the woman if it was truly an accident, which it looks like it was. I remember one time when I was a new parent, I was driving with my daughter in the back seat sleeping. I remember her making a little peep and it actually startled me because I forgot I wasn't alone in the car. It was definitely a wake up call to be more mindful.

Sad story.

Indeed it is.

I've heard of people doing the same with their dogs. I always thought it was dumb ass people doing that.

Going to work and forgetting your daughter is in the car. That just blows me away.

It seems insane but it happens.

I really think I'm the type who could do this. I get into a routine and do things mindlessly.

I'm mindless often myself. I often drive the same route even when my new route takes me off my old route. Then I have to recalculate how to get to where I really need to go. I get up at the same time every day even the other three or four days when I don't have to.

I think all of us do mindless things from time to time, sort of an autopilot feature.

Like shutting the sliding glass door. Always lock it. Wife was outside once and luckily she had her phone to text me.

This is disgusting and appalling.

When the fuck are you people going to stop making excuses and ban your precious cars?!

Nobody needs a car and cars murder over 30,000 Americans a year.

Cars murder over 2,000 American children a year.

Hitler had a car, so did Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy...the list goes on and on.

Motor vehicle fatality rate in U.S. by year

Annual US traffic fatalities per billion vehicle miles traveled (red), miles traveled (blue), per one million people (orange), total annual deaths (light blue), VMT in 10s of billions (dark blue) and population in millions (teal), from 1921 to 2017
The table below shows the motor vehicle fatality rate in the United States by year from 1899 through 2016. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 2016 data shows 37,461 people were killed in 34,436 motor vehicle crashes, an average of 102 per day.[1]

In 2010, there were an estimated 5,419,000 crashes, 30,296 of with fatalities, killing 32,999, and injuring 2,239,000.[2] About 2,000 children under 16 die every year in traffic collisions.[3] Records indicate that there have been a total of 3,613,732 motor vehicle fatalities in the United States from 1899 to 2013.

Although the number of deaths, and deaths relative to the total US population, declined over most of the previous two decades, the trend reversed in 2015 and continued to move upward in 2016.[needs update] From 1979 to 2005, the number of deaths per year decreased 14.97% while the number of deaths per capita decreased by 35.46%. The 32,479 traffic fatalities in 2011 were the lowest in 62 years, since 1949. US motor death statistics reported by government only include those on public roads, and do not include parking lots, driveways, and private roads.[4]

These fatalities ado not include those also attributable to transportation due to air pollution, which are about 200 000 a year [9] nor energy production for the use of the transportation. They are also only human fatalities, and animals are also significantly affected with tens of millions of deaths [10]. Another factor not included in this tally is that attributable to traffic noise, which could be millions as a contributory factor and is likely to be tens of thousands as a direct consequence [11].

Unlike guns, cars serve a utilitarian purpose.

Guns are useful if you like venison which I don't and handguns are only good for killing and maiming people.

2010 detailed statistics
The following table summarizes the number of people killed and injured in fatal collisions by month in 2010. The table does not include injuries resulting from incidents in which no fatalities occurred.[8]

Month Fatalities In-vehicle casualties (excluding uninjured bus occupants) Non-vehicle casualties (including pedestrians)
2010-01 2290 4785 427

2010-10 3056 6382 543
2010-11 2795 5842 573
2010-12 2597 5417 548
These fatalities ado not include those also attributable to transportation due to air pollution, which are about 200 000 a year [9] nor energy production for the use of the transportation. They are also only human fatalities, and animals are also significantly affected with tens of millions of deaths [10]. Another factor not included in this tally is that attributable to traffic noise, which could be millions as a contributory factor and is likely to be tens of thousands as a direct consequence [11].

Ban cars...? Lmao.

He's being sarcastic obviously. Car vs gun. I got it.
I see it now.. Just skimmed. Is he the one with the boat? Lol.

Being sarcastic about deaths from car accidents to make a point about another deadly but completely different issue is kinda low, if you ask me.

No boat. It is a valid point to some degree. How much protection do we need from ourselves?

That's why Democrats started regulating car companies so they had to manufacture safer cars. More regulations for Trump to overturn. Just like gun locks and gun safes we don't need no stinkin' seat belts.
