Damn, Cashman has really earned his new contract during this off season.

Just nonsense private workouts to make it look like they were in the mix.

...this upcoming season as well as the near future is looking less and less exciting for me.

I'm not sure this one is on Cashman, but it's on the Yanks either way and doesn't feel great. Hate to root for a kid to be a bust but here goes...

I think it's just a poorly run organization all around at this point.

^^^... and the bad thing about it is that I don't see things changing for the better as long as the Steins are still the owners.

Hate to say it.........the money will be staying in the Steinbros' pockets.

Yankees need new 'win at all costs' owners.

Anywhere but Boston!

You beat me to this. The more, I mean the less that happens the less I look forward to a productive season. And for that matter the next 2 or 3 seasons.

Exactly Rick. It seems like the Steins are bleeding out the team until free of ARod, Tex and CC $$$$.

I am so furious I cannot even speak right now. I hope nobody spends money to go and see the Yankees this season. Then maybe Hal and Company will take notice. To lose him to the Red Sox of all teams is a disgrace. Screw you Hal and Cashman.

...Rupert Murdoch and Newscorp bought 49% of the YES Network 2-3 years ago...could be a precursor to the eventual sale of the Yanx...who knows.

...the owners would probably block him (again) but I'd love to see someone passionate like Mark Cuban take over...or maybe even an investment group including Jeter.

I've been saying that in terms of those contracts but that's a good way to put it. They're bleeding the team until those contracts are done. Who knows what happens from there.

And they can't sell it saddled with with ARod, Tex and CC $$$$$.

...^^^ mess and tote... depending on how he responds, you also may be able to add Tanaka to that list before long.

...but as flush with money as the Yanx are, I don't see the salaries hindering a sale...I mean I don't see them letting this team flounder for another 2-3 years just to make them more attractive to a buyer...if they get the right offer they'll weigh it at that time.

^^^... to everything already noted by all posters....^^^

Indeed the 3 contracts of Tex, Alex, and CC, hell if were NOT lucky, Tanaka could be added to this list of bleeders:

I found this interesting, and should slow down the bosox. In fact, IMO, signing Ramirez, and Sandoval will not work anymore for the Beantown Team, than Carl Crawford, or Adrian Gonzo did. ( I swore when Gonzo was with the Bosox, we were going to see him hit 60 HR's, but......he's a line drive hitter, doesn't lift alot of pitches)......

"Yankees offered $25M with willingness to go to $27M which is same offered Jorge Soler who went to Cubs for $30M," Sherman noted. He went on to compare Moncada's reported deal to Alex Rodriguez's remaining contract: "So with tax, Red Sox will pay $63M to Moncada or about what Yankees owe A-Rod ($61M) for the next 3 yrs."

"Because he is not yet 23 years old and did not play in a Cuban professional league for at least five seasons, Moncada is subject to MLB's international signing guidelines, under which each team is allotted a $700,000 and an additional bonus pool based on the team's record the previous year to be used during the international signing period. The current period started July 2 and ends on June 15."

"According to those guidelines, clubs are penalized during the upcoming 2015-16 signing period if they exceed their bonus pools by certain amounts. The Red Sox had already exceeded their bonus pool before this signing and been given the maximum penalty. It's a severe measure that includes a 100-percent tax on their pool overages and prohibits them from signing any pool-eligible player for more than $300,000 during the next two signing periods. Including the penalty for exceeding their bonus pool, Moncada's deal will cost the Red Sox approximately $60 million (bonus plus penalty)."

"The Red Sox have until July 15 to pay the overage tax and up to three years to pay out Moncada's bonus."

Yanks have something like 110 mil invested in six players this year not including Arod.
Four of those players, Ellsbury, Beltran, Tanaka and McCann are entering their 2nd year of their contracts. They /Yanks did say they weren't going after any of the big ticket free agent pitchers prior to the winter meetings, and they didn't. Yes - it evidently appears to be part of a "plan". Time for these numerous high priced players to put up, or shut up.
Cashman and company just may be showing more prudence and patience than most of us impulsive FANatics.

And the Yanks have a very talented 19-20 yr old SS (Mateo) down in the minors which every team seems to be asking for in proposed trade inquiries.

I'm willing to bite the bullet and see what these players have left in the tank and while we've discussed the pitching staff.....I do expect an injury or two but I also believe this could be one of those years where we will see one,two maybe three farmhands promoted for possibly emergency service with one of them being Severino, possibly Mitchell and Warren could be a sleeper in the equation. I think, and I think the Yankees agree he's better suited as a SP.

And from what I'm reading he's not expected to be major league ready for two more years.

On top of that, No Team defines their future(s) on the basis of ONE, (to repeat) ONE, single Prospect.

Rather several...........no guarantee, Soler or any other top ranked Prospect, can stay healthy, not blow an arm out, et al.

As a poker player, a word of advice, "Don't be the whole enchilada on One hand", a 2nd word of advice: "Stay in School Kid, and don't drop out"....

Interpreting negative success to align with the idea that this was Cashman's plan is pure speculation....being polite about it.
Show me one article where Cashman recapped his off season moves and made cogent sense of all the transactions as a whole.

^^^^^

...just take a look at the players from last year who are no longer with the team and then look at the players that were added this off-season.

Gone; Jeter, Kuroda, Prado, Greene, Phelps, DRob, Cervelli, McCarthy, et al. ====New; Jones, Gregorius, ARod, Miller, Wilson, Eovaldi

...yeah, I've got a nice warm and fuzzy feeling about this year....and I think before the year is over we're gonna miss Greene, Prado, and Cervelli.

You may disagree and I'm certainly not giving him an "A"... but he made a deal for a young SS (of course risky like many trades) who the Yanks think has the talent to do well enough to eventually hold the job for a while.

They didn't jump through hoops and raise the payroll approaching 300 mil (for crissakes), and they have every right to expect and/or see what Beltran,Tex, Headley have to offer and there's a very fair chance one or two young farmhand position players could arrive and be ready to contribute.

There is more dirty paper trail behind Murdoch that baseball owners would never
allow his regime to take over the NYY. Talk about sacrilege.

Anything Jeter is linked (to) merits a positive move.

To play devil's advocate.... What was the point of trading for Sir Didi?
