Monta Ellis' potential interest in joining @SacramentoKings as a FA became much stronger with hiring of Mike Malone as coach, source told Y!

Would seem to increase chances they'd let Evans walk, no?

I would like us to sign Monte

Only way I'd like Monte would be as a sixth man off the bench but he is going to get an offer of around 8-10 a year making him out of our price range(not to mention he would probably bitch and moan if he wasnt starting and getting under 30m a game).

$8-10 year seems like a low-ball for his expectations... given that he's opting out of an apparent $11 million option.

$8-10 seems more realistic, and he probably should have accepted the option, but apparently he thinks he's worth more than he is.

I say let Sactown overpay for him. It only helps out the rest of the West if they get bogged down with a near-MAX deal with Ellis.

Ellis thinks he is just as good if not better then DWade. He is going to expect a huge contract but even if he gets 4-40m its better to opt out now then to opt into his contract because he ensures himself a big payday. Lots of examples of players given up huge paydays to accept long term deals with a smaller wage then they would have gotten there final year.

This turned into an Ellis thread quick. I hope (and think) the Trail Blazers have zero interest in him.

But if the Kings are going a different direction with their SG position, prying Evans loose seems more and more possible.

I could be completely wrong on this one, but didn't the latest CBA further restrict the length of contracts?

Like I said, probably wrong, but I thought I heard that somewhere... just skimming Wiki and google, I think it might only be four years w/o Bird rights now...

If that's true, it probably would have made more sense for him to accept his $11 mill option, but I'm sure there are other factors at play...

Yeah, and he'd practically be returning to the Bay Area as well. He's probably still got a home down there, and a lot of peeps tool.

They decreased the length of a contract you can give a FA by a year, the max for a FA you do not own the bird rights to is 4 years instead of 5. The same goes for players with bird rights, a team can offer 5 years for the max down from six.

I assume Portland isn't considered Bay Area? Oh well...

Monta Ellis actually live in Memphis (Collierville)... he married a MPD cop and lives here in the offseason...

Del monte is quite fruity, I particularly enjoy their cock tails

Monta has been primarily paired with a smaller PG for his NBA career, but he's filled in capably at the point for stretches when Curry/Jennings were out with injury. It's my guess he'd prefer to be paired with a larger SG with some point skills so that he's not having to guard someone a size larger then him. He'd be a good fit with Evans (who also has some Memphis roots) and I'd guess thats part of why he's interested in the Kings

A below average, rebuilding team should not be linked to Monta Ellis. Who is Petrie's replacement? He needs to have his head examined.

A loser player for a loser franchise.

Can we get in a three team trade to bring DeMarcus Cousins here?

That's the Grizz GM--the dude who traded Pau to the lakers and signed Miles to 10-day deals just to spite us, right? Why would he leave Memphis to go to Sacramento?

Its either the challenge to build a winner from scratch or money ... or both i guess

I'd love Evans. I think he would pair perfectly with Lillard. He can handle the ball a bit, he plays decent D, he's a physical SG and his inside game opens up the outside for Lillard, LA and Batum.

putting on the GM hat... I'd definitely want insider's opinions on Tyreke's personal makeup, but I couldn't agree with you more about how his game would mesh with whats already in place in PDX. His addition would be like adding ice cubes to Gin, Tonic & a lime wedge

16.8 career PER on a 25 career USG for Ellis.

I wouldn't pay him the MLE.

16.2 PER on 26.3 USG last year as a "veteran". He'll be 28 next season. Same age as LMA.

LOL

Why wouldn't they want to see what a new coaching staff could do for Evans? I'd much rather have him than Ellis.

Maybe he wants out and they know it?
