As for Zucc/Hags, I agree ideally one can go since they are similar, but like I said yesterday the Rangers are in a tough spot there.
I do think Zucc is the better player, BUT I also know Hags is valuable to the team with his speed and PK ability.
The bigger issue is to me Zucc will have ZERO value in the trades we would try and make with the lesser teams that are out of it. As a UFA why would those teams want Zucc...unless they can flip him right away.
Hags as a RFA does have some value to those types of teams, but I also think he has good value to us in the playoffs.
All things being equal I rather deal Zucc mainly because he is a UFA this summer and should get a raise to over 4 mill per. But if he has no real value this trade DL, I would try and flip Hags for a bigger top 9 forward. Then they would still need to add another top 9 forward unless the guy we get for Hags is a big-time player.
I also want to see Miller play. I know he makes some mistakes on D, but I cannot watch this bottom 6 without Miller. There is so little chance to score it is painful. At least with Miller playing the bottom 6 has a chance to score. I would put Miller and Hags as the wings on the 3rd line and be done with it. Hags is responsible on D. Miller is getting better, I saw him with a very good back-check against the Isles. Just let them play and go from there.
Overall I hope a move happens sooner and not 6 weeks from now. I would try to deal Zucc first if possible, but would default to Hags if need be, but I fully believe no shot we deal either unless we get a big-time proven player. I don't see Sather dealing either of these guys for a top 9 forward who is solid. He would want more to deal these guys, and rightfully so. If you deal either one of these guys and add someone back, the depth issue is still there, so it needs to be a clearly better player and a big jump in talent.
