me typing this message on a computer contributes to global warming.

running your air conditioning, wearing clothes made in a factory, using the washing machine...all contributes to global warming!

we need to get back to being naked and throwing spears.

And even then, the planet froze over! What the fuck are we to do?!

I'm just glad I don't live in a place like Arizona, or New Mexico or Nevada that doesn't naturally have a strong source of clean water. I can only imagine those states lacking good water will only see the price of water continue to increase.

The batteries can be recycled though. I know Toyota will pay for every battery returned.

Nevada has plenty of fresh water. The Colorado River is about 10-15 miles from Vegas. There's lake Tahoe up north.

If you think recycling the casing and a few metal components are "recycling" then yeah, they are doing it. In order to make these batteries function again, you must completely gut the old and in with the new. The most "harmful" and environmentally unfriendly parts are still dumped.

It depends which batteries you are talking about and what you consider "the most 'harmful' and environmentally unfriendly parts".

Battery technology is improving. Hybrid and electric car batteries are typically nickel-metal and lithium-ion based and while they are not totally benign, they are less dangerous than lead.

How much lithium is there in the world? (Hint: not enough)

There's also a limited supply of fossil fuel and we can't recycle fossil fuel.

the world is running out of helium at an alarming rate
