Yeah, that whole stretch, from Gulf Shores, Alabama to Pensacola, FL to Destin, etc. It's just a great place to vacation.
I know the partying must have some ridiculous ecological repercussions, but growing up in Memphis and going to college in New Orleans, that's an area that I've grown up vacationing in. When I was a kid, that's where everyone in Memphis did their beach trips, and there were plenty of family friendly beaches and accommodations for us at the time. Then in high school, that was where everyone celebrated graduation. Fast-forward to college, and we'd go down there for every break. Now looking at my parents, in their late 50's/early 60's, looking at retirement possibilities, they're looking to retire there.
Is your sister employed anywhere near Navarre Beach btw? Because one random day in the middle of the week, not giving a shit about our classes, I got drunk with some of my friends, my girlfriend, and some of her friends in the French Quarter. We then all decided to drive in my four-seater car, six deep, to the Redneck Riviera, and of course, in our state, we didn't understand the implications of just driving to Florida without any money or plans, so we wound up using a one person tent that I had in my trunk from a high school Bonnaroo, and we wound up staying on Navarre Beach, a nature preserve beach, until the following Sunday.
I only share that story to say that there was a great community of preservationists all along the beach every day, keeping us in check, who we had to apologize to pretty much every morning, and I was wondering if that wasn't where your sister worked.
