All told, the Clintons paid back or returned approximately $136,000 worth of furniture, artwork, china and other household items they had kept upon leaving office, with $86,000 of that total consisting of personal gifts they would presumably have been allowed to retain but decided to pay for to avoid the appearance of impropriety. About $50,000 of the total comprised items they had removed but were later determined to belong to the government.

Did they return all the "W" keys they allegedly stole from all the White House computer keyboards???

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ry-clinton-says-she-and-bill-were-dead-broke/

"You have no reason to remember, but we came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt," Clinton said. "We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelsea's education. It was not easy. Bill has worked really hard. And it's been amazing to me. He's worked very hard."

...

A few weeks before they left the White House, the Clintons were able to muster a cash down payment of $855,000 and secure a $1.995 million mortgage. This hardly fits the common meaning of "dead broke."

Hey, I don't care what snopes says. I think we should use your $200,000 figure. I am fucking outraged! Fucking bitch!

See we agree on something and we've set the standard. Any personal enrichment over $200,000 by anyone connected to or working in the White House and we're going to stand up and cry foul.

Well, it wasn't the amount, it was the theft of The People's property in the first place.

We really should set an amount, otherwise we'll just look like Rasta. $200,000 sounds fair but if you want to lower it I go along with it.

Hillary$200kClinton! Just say no to stealing from the people!

Hey, she was dead broke and needed to steal those things to feed her child.

Just excuses.

We've made huge progress today. We're going to use Crooked Hillary's theft as the standard of what we expect from our elected officials.

I don't think any other president in history has been accused of taking government property with him upon leaving the White House.

Any standard is fine by me.

We should include more than stealing. I remember a few years back 60 Mins did a story on members of congress would buy stock of a company the day before legislation was announced that benefited that company. (Buy low, sell high!) Because of that we should also include using your government position for personal enrichment. We'll call it the #DirtyDems rule.

Congress closes loophole in stock trading law after CNN report

Updated 7:57 PM ET, Fri August 3, 2012

House Republicans have been forced to close a potential loophole on their much-touted insider trading law -- a loophole CNN uncovered and reported about last month.

Because of CNN's report, the Senate and House passed new legislation Thursday to close the loophole that could have allowed family members of some lawmakers to profit from inside information.

Senators who were critical of the loophole after it was unearthed applauded the fix.

The STOCK Act, one of the rare bipartisan bills passed this year, was signed by President Barack Obama in April.
