I've seen Shawshank Redemption, a truly great movie.
Haven't seen Taxi Driver.
I used to go to the movies all the time in the 90's, so even though I only now saw Pulp Fiction I think I know most of the Classics from that time.
I got a little weaker in watching movies since then. I really liked Into the Wild that I watched on TV and I saw Batman with Heath Ledger in the Cinema which was very impressive. Earlier classics, I have many holes to fill. I only recently watched the good, the bad and the ugly which I really liked and another old movie I watched recently is Lawrence of Arabia which also impressed me very much.
But some 70's movies like the Godfather series or De Niro movies I still haven't seen. Also never seen any Star Wars movies that I know some people like
That means you've seen Forrest Gump, right?

Into the Wild, great movie. Part of my collection.

Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies. Still reference it way too often.
I like the touching, heartwarming stories. Scent of a Woman, Rain Man, the movie with Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio, not sure how it's called in English, something about Gilbert?
Also liked some of the more action movies, Speed, Jurassic Park but I don't like too much stress in movies. I also like Sports movies although they were a bit immature in the 90's, Moneyball I really liked

Whats eating Gilbert grape. Haven't seen it in its entirety, but Leo deserved an Oscar for his performance in it.

Have you seen Eternal sunshine of the Spotless mind?

Saw it in the Cinema actually. It's a good, touching movie, but not one of my favorites.
Although being somewhat heartbroken right now it does become kinda relevant

I was boycotting any movie with Jennifer Lawrence in it because she did this shit, but today I caved and watched Passengers. It was actually pretty good if you are into the Sci-Fi/Technology genre.

Also viewed Hacker last night which was sorta interesting. Almost seemed less realistic than the crazy space traveling the happened in the aforementioned film though.

If I had to recommend one of the two, I'd go with Passengers.

JLaw does not go topless

Thought I'd reccomend some concert movies & docs tonight, most are probably available on Netflix. It is kind of a hit and miss category in general. But these are great.

Nirvana: Live! Tonight! Sold Out!
Rory Gallagher: Irish Tour '74
Be Here To Love Me: A Townes Van Zandt Documentary
Curtis Mayfield: Live At Ronnie Scott's (it's available on YouTube)
Scott Walker: 30th Century Man
Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talking About Him)?
The TAMI Show (James Brown called it his fastest dancing ever)

They had the Godfather epic on a while back, where they spliced the first and second movies togethet in chronological order. It was 7 hours long, but amazing.

Watch 500 days of summer.

At first you'll think, who was that asshole that told me to watch it on the boards, but the ending is true. We all have been there. I saw it when i broke up with my college gf and really grew to appreciate the movie. Its a good one.

This is a bit weird for "movies you've seen recently" but we've been having a Buster Keaton thing in my household, and it's amazing how entertaining they are. If I had to recommend just one, it would be Steamboat Bill Jr. - the last portion of that, in a storm, is amazing. What's funny is that they're much better than movies made for decades after. NOBODY would want to watch what passed as mainstream comedy in the early talkies (Bob Hope anyone?) but you can't beat Buster.

Love this movie. Very relatable back in the dating days. Great soundtrack too!

I've seen the movie. Big fan of Zooey Dechanell, I especially like New Girl. Guess I'd have to wait for Automn...

Every once in a while you see a film that is more relevant then the day was made. "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion" an Italian winner for Best Foreign Film, reads like a story that could easily exist in the America of Trump and The Patriot Act. And that's not a good thing.

Gian Maria Volontè, Clint Eastwood's nememsis from the first two Fistful of Dollars film plays maybe sleeziest police detective in movie history. He's just been given limitless power and wants to tests the limits of democracy. If you've ever said "fuck the police" you really need to see this film. There is no better film about the nature of corruption.

I will try and find it.

Logan 8.5/10 (loved it, probably better than an 8.5 didn't even think about the plot don't care)
Get Out 7/10 (odd but entertaining movie)
LaLa land 6/10 (ok and pretty well made but overall nothing spectacular)
Hidden Figures 8/10 (very entertaining but one of those hard to cover racist areas where it's either too feel good or too preachy)
Sleepless 5.5/10 (Jamie Foxx in a Taken ripoff that is just a paint by numbers type of thing but looks good and is fast paced)
Gold 7/10 (entertaining but apparently not that accurate, still worth a go if you like Matthew Mcconasdlfjleef)
The Great Wall 3/10 (beautiful looking but just boring with little of anything interesting)

Get out is the most overrated movie. I went into it all hyped because everybody said it was so amazing and then I realized the only reason they were saying that was because it deals with racial shit but honestly the movie is very mediocre. Despite the few musical parts of la la land which I hate, had a pretty good story and acting. Was alright. I really really liked Logan

john wick 2 was very entertaining, still like the first one more. New fast and furious is meh, it's a pile of shit honestly just makes them a lot of money

Get Out was interesting but I don't think would have been made if a nobody pitched it. Peele is a known entity so it got done.

It had a Purge Anarchy B movie type vibe to it and some cliche black characters that a white guy probably would catch hell for creating. Loved the TSA dude though, he was pretty good. I didn't expect much so I wasn't disappointed. I watch pretty much everything at home so I can't wait for John Wick 2.

I didn't even try to think about the plot of Logan. I just loved the darkness and despair of the characters and the acting was great. Hugh really cracks me up and we just really enjoyed the whole thing.

Also on Get Out. SPOILER.....

I was kinda leaning towards it being a slave movie which really could have been interesting if rich white people were doing it in a way they couldn't get caught. Then it had the sci fi medical part and it was alright but a bit off if you think about it. It assumed that we really are post racial in this country and nobody would ever care.

I just saw on Amazon it's 28 bucks. Jeeeeez. May have to rent it for 3.99. They have a 4k digital version, was pretty surprised.

I got it on Netfix. I usually go the DVD queue unless I want something rare they don't have. Then I just buy it online or order it.

I have to say I love when marvel goes rated R. Was perfect for Logan

I would of appreciated get out if it genuinely was a good movie. I liked the actor, I first saw him in a black mirror episode. Other than that the plot wasn't really keeping me interested and it was pretty stupid. The horror aspect wasn't scary at all to me. I mean all it takes is a spoon by some lady to get them into some trance, it was just ridiculous to me. And the whole time it just told me that "black people have superior genetics", referenced several times and part of the reason they were put into this whole slave thing. It just was some Hollywood leftist nonsense to me

Sucks to hear that Get Out is overrated. Still got to see it myself. I've been disappointed in some films I watched lately. Rented a bunch of neo noir films like Night Moves and The Long Goodbye that were supposed to be cult classics. They weren't classics. They were just fucking terrible.
