KP has put way too much into building a winning chemistry in this team to risk losing that by trading Outlaw.

This team has chemistry. The guys are humble, thier egos in check, they stay out of trouble, they are low key, they enjoy each others company (recent article how they choose to go out to dinner and stuff with each other) . . . they aren't about the bling as much as improving as a team with one goal in mind, championship. And the glue to all that . . . Outlaw.

He is everyone's best friend. He is a happy go lucky talent that doesn't complain about coming off the bench, minutes or position he plays. He will take the game winning shot when asked or sit on the bench and watch . . . without questions or drama. He is one of the first guys celebrating with the Blazer that made a big shot, no matter who that player is . . . he even seem to have developed a special bond with Oden as a couple of times those two celebrated on the court GO takes his big "old" hand and rubs travis head (don't see Oden being that animated with other players).

Bottom line, I know the chant here is to trade Outlaw, but his value is being underestimated . . . Travis is a key ingredient to this team.

From what Ive seen (which is less than you), I would disagree. Nice player but very expendable

Yeah. last year, EVERYONE on the team loved Jarret Jack. Locker room favorite. Everyone's best friend. Always joking around with everyone. We had great chemistry. we traded him for Jerryd Bayless, who came in with a little chip on his shoulder, and an attitude. Our chemistry sure is fucked right now, isn't it?

what a mistake is thinking outlaw will ever be a decent defender.

here we go.... lets keep a guy who gives up 20 points on the defensive side of the ball.

maybe we can keep sergio as a starter

I completely agree. Repped. Even though he does stupid things, he is a great piece to have off the bench and could possibly alter our teams chemistry.

The Blazers IMO have too many nice guys. We need some 'Tude in the Lockeroom. They can be the nicest guys off court you want. When in the game, I want players who are going to dish it out and not take it.

 And I was a J.Jack fan!

The guys will get over losing their buddy Outlaw. It's Outlaw's 6th year in the league, he isnt going to get any/much better.

Um, JJ sucked. TO is a much better player than JJ will ever be. Regardless, I still think he is expendable.

You bring up a good point about JJ. But JJ wasn't happy go lucky . . . it's all good . . . type of player. He complained about playing SG, he strongly voiced his opinion about starting and would sulk.

I think they will miss Outlaw much more . . . hope I don't find out.

He's a good player and good guy. I don't think the team will resent him being traded in an effort to improve the team. If the team were fucking with him or fostering a hostile relationship between management and players, that would be a problem. Pritchard simply doing his job in trying to build the best team possible would probably be appreciated by the players. I'm sure they'd miss Outlaw, but appreciate KP pro-actively trying to help their future as a team.

Depends who you move him for. Butler - sure. VC? Not so sure - given his age. Wallace - questionable but still worth considering.

the whole teams bb iq should go up once he is traded.

Trading Outlaw is a mistake. He is fucking clutch. Hang onto him. Without him last season, we win about 35 games.

Intersting . . . I didn't think of the other players reactions as much as how he brings a bonding to the team that could be in danger of breaking.

But how about the impact on other players. They all know this is a business, but to lose a good friend . . . well that just rubs in their face this is all business. Do they appreciate a proactive KP or start watching their backs? :D

Not against trading Outlaw, as he's probably our most tradeable playing asset right now. I do wonder who plays the back-up 4 right now if he moves on. We've seen the Channing Frye/Ike Diogu experiment this year, and yuck. So if Outlaw goes and we get SF du'jour back, who plays the 4 behind LaMarcus?

As long as he scores 21 that is fine with me. But I don't really see his man going off night after night. Some nights he plays very good D. It all depends on the matchup. Granted he leaves his man open open too much 23 feet from the basket. But at the PF he has some good nights. Is he the best defender around? No. But as usual you are fucking embellishing the truth!

Chemistry comes from winning. It doesn't lead to it.

If the Blazers are able to get a better player by shipping Outlaw out, the team should win more and the team will therefore have better "chemistry".

Lakers were winning a lot with Kobe and Shaq . . . but they had terrbile chemistry. Ended up ruining the team.

Van Halen won a lot . . . they too had terrible chemistry.

I think players are all pretty well-aware that it's a business. Very few players give "friends and family discounts" when negotiating a new salary. ;) I think fans are more concerned with player chemistry and bonds than the players are.

Get over it. The team will arguably function better without Outlaw jacking up shots. And I wouldn't mind ruining the team if we won 3 consecutive championships before it happened.

Did you catch Nash's reaction when Phx traded Bell?

We are on opposite sides here, I don't think fans are sensitive to the fact that players attitudes can affect how they play . . . not saying it is the ultimate factor, but it is a factor that should be considered.

Ironic how the rumor is Outlaw for Carter, since Carter has admitted to not playing 100% when he wasn't happy in Toronto.

I can't . . I just can't over it.

So you're saying a team can win with terrible chemistry?

Why should we worry about terrible chemistry, then?

Is the object of NBA games to win or to have good chemistry?

Travis is a great guy by all accounts and well liked, but if losing him is the price it takes to add a serious upgrade to the small forward position then KP would be negligent to balk.

Trout is a mixed bag.

6 years in the league... and he still has no BBall IQ. He never plays within the flow of the offense. He is a poor defender. His biggest asset is the fact that he can *always* get a shot off, because he jumps so high. In short, Trout is a playground baller. He has won games -- and lost plenty for us as well.

I would be glad to see him go. Nice guy and all - and I am sure he'll average a lot of points somewhere else. But if we can get a Vince Carter (minimum for him), then *great*.

I am going to miss Sergio a lot more, because I know he'll develop into a star. But I am resigned to the fact that it won't happen here, or under Nate. So I wish him well; he is a heck of a playmaker, and I'll root for him wherever he goes.

The trade is still superb. If that is the best the Blazers can do, they should do it.

Folks talk about how "clutch" Outlaw is. But if you thought about the game deeper than the last second shot, and figured out that if he actually shot in the previous 3 quarters like he did in the end of the 4th, we wouldn't need the "skin of your teeth game winner." You win walking away. Portland needs consistency. Portland needs 'Tude. Not a guy who plays one good game out of every 3 or 4, and even then sometimes it is only for a quarter.

J.A. Adande just said on NBA coast to coast he hears R-Jefferson to Portland for Lafrentz and Outlaw has legs
