Here is my wish list for this deal. Any player that is worth a fuck to play off the bench and bring some scoring in. Hell at this point I would even sign Jerry Stackhouse just to bring in scoring help. Right now Aldridge is averaging like 4 minutes of rest per game, and even that is a struggle for him to get that breathing room. It was obvious that late last week the players the team depends on from night to night are getting tired, and in some games, they are tired from the start because of the long minutes from the previous game(s). We only need like 3 competent bench players to push this team up a level in toughness. The question is, where can we get them?

I think the problem is that you're assuming that there's a one-to-one relationship between knowing that there's no meniscus left and knowing that Brandon is going to have so much pain that he can't play at a high level anymore. That's simply not the case. Brandon has played without meniscus in his left knee for his entire career without it preventing him from playing at an All-Star level. You also seem to be assuming that Brandon's current knee situation is static...that Cho should assume that Brandon's never going be able to play again at a high level. While it's sure that Brandon's knees are never going to be healthy again, it's not at all certain, as a result of his latest scoping, that he won't be able to be free enough pain to play well again for at least some period going forward. Since we don't know what that situation is going to be today, faulting Cho for not knowing last summer smacks to me of someone who's just looking for a scapegoat.

Your "logic" is totally off.

You're right that Roy's surgery took place before the end of the season. But he never returned to play at a high level after that surgery.

So instead of asking what changed with Roy's knee between the end of last season and the beginning of this season, you should be asking: What changed with Roy's knee between the last time he was playing at a high level and the beginning of this season?

One obvious thing that happened was the surgery. That is pretty significant.

You folks are arguing over something that pretty much just comes down to individual opinion, and it really doesn't matter. Portland has its hand dealt to it, and that is what management has to deal with, now. I don't really give a shit when Roy got hurt, and what management knew. The fact is he got hurt some time last year and has never been the same, and he is signed to a huge contract. That is the reality. The team has changed since he went down and now the management team needs to concentrate on building around Aldridge. If they don't get him some help, the same thing is going to happen to him as happened to Roy. Roy was over played during his short stretch and it shortened his career. If the team doesn't get Lamarcus some help so he can play less than 44 minutes a game, he will break down too and the whole pattern will repeat. Finger pointing does no good. Getting Lamarcus some help does.
