several times they said iirc or if i heard correctly that they or wheelz had a big/huge announcement on monday? did anyone catch this?

Sounds like something about Wheels and not about the Blazers.

I heard that also but didn't hear what. I am wondering if his radio show is changing somehow? Was Wheels selected as the All-Star play by play guy? Maybe he has passed the 100lbs lost mark.

Yeah, I tend to think it's got something to do with Brian Wheeler or the station and zero to do with the Blazers.

I had to turn it off in the car because of their non-stop Kevin Durant butt-kissing.

I'll assume it's a curveball and the Comcast/DirecTV deal will be finalized during one of their shows. :devilwink:

I hope its nothing bad for the guy, I know he has had his health battles over the years.

I can't stand listening to Wheeler. He whines all game long if the team is playing poorly or God forbid, an opposing player scores more than his season average or a low percentage 3 pt. shooter hits one. There's a reason they hit those shots Brian...they are wide open!

That said, I hope he's all right and not ailing.

I would love this to be the big annoucment but I don't think it is from anything I have heard. I don't think there is anymore movement on the Comcast deal with Directv. I really hope I'm wrong on this though.

They just teased it again. Maybe he is taking over for Canzano.

I doubt it's Comcast. They wouldn't risk holding off on a story like that and have O-Live break it first. Maybe a programming change?

has to be something positive for wheels, if he was leaving or the sort he'd just vanish, that's what happens in radio. and i seriously doubt they'd tease something big for the blazers all the way to monday, they would be reporting it now so as not to get scooped by the national guys.

He's a really nice guy, but you're right. He just gets so depressed during games. If we're losing, I almost can't stand to listen to him.

Yeah, he definitely channels his inner MIXUM a lot. I get the feeling a lot that we're down by 20, and he says the score and we're down 19-15 in the first quarter, and it's not all that bad.
But Wheels has definitely had some memorable calls this season.

Yea he takes it hard when the Blazers lose. Most fans do. Live and breathe and bleed Blazers!:devilwink:

Yeah, but that's the problem.... I'm already taking the loss hard and I don't need Wheelz negativity taking me into critical levels of frustration lol

I don't know. You would think waiting to Monday someone else would break the trade and Wheels would look pretty dumb.

Monday is a long ways off, so I agree with Tort. Can't be a trade.

There is a flurry of activity it seems today...and I would disagree on the possibility of it being a trade announcement. If they could not finalize it today, I don't think that most trades are finalized on a weekend. I could be totally wrong on it though. :pimp:

Unless wheels is part of the trade. Which teams around the league need an expiring contract and an upgrade to their radio play by play?

Too many mouths are part of the trade... agents, players, front office people... it never stays a secret very long, so I agree. Not going to be a trade.

the league offices arent open on the weekends so they have to wait to finalize the trade on monday.

I miss Steve Jones. He called shitty play shitty play. I get awful tired of here Rice complain about the refs when the team is playing horrific defense.

The last time Wheels had a "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT" it was during the offseason when trade murmurs were at their peak. 95.5 hyped the upcoming announcement for days, and when it came time for the announcement Wheels spoke in a very serious and suspenseful manor and let us in on the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: "Travis Outlaw was training in Portland during the offseason." That was it. That was the huge Blazer secret news they hyped up unbelievably.

Wheels and 95.5 lost a lot of credibility and respect when that happened. Outside of Jim Rome and Blazer related programs I pretty much can't stand 95.5. 1080 is much higher quality sports talk.

I take this BIG ANNOUNCEMENT about as seriously as a TRADE COMING SOON thread.
