In all honesty, I really don't give a rip about Trump, so you can relax. I do like this, though. Oh, and I think it's just the beginning. Twitter had just gotten a bit too big for its own blue jeans.

Twitter Users Fear The Influence Of Elon Musk

Elon Musk has a seat on Twitter’s board of directors, right after revealing himself as the largest shareholder in the social media company.

The announcement instantly sparked rumors of change, as Twitter users speculated on how the world’s wealthiest man might influence the platform.

Musk has been questioning Twitter’s moderation policies for weeks, and at one point, even claimed to be considering starting his own social media platform to rival Twitter (this strategy didn’t work out for Donald Trump, who doesn’t even use his own platform, Truth Social).

Musk seems openly determined to make changes, under the guise of democracy. On March 25, 11 days after becoming Twitter’s largest shareholder, Musk tweeted a poll, asking his followers, “Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?” Musk added in a follow-up tweet: “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.”

After revealing his new position on the board of directors, Musk polled his followers again, asking if Twitter should add an edit button, intentionally including spelling errors to underline his point - this time, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal noted that the poll would have important consequences. With the majority of Musk’s Twitter followers being made up of simpering Tesla fans, the results of these polls might be more than a little skewed.

A Twitter edit button has long been the subject of debate for Twitter users, as the potential for bad-faith trolling that an edit button would invite might be too much for the chaotic platform, as users would be likely to be able to edit the meaning of tweets after they have gone viral.
Thanks for the copy/paste, but was more interested (so to speak) in your opinion. Not someone else’s. But I guess it’s just one more way to own the libs, taking Twitter and making it worse.

How many accounts has Twitter so-called "cancelled"? Perhaps, we can start there.

Does it matter?? Don't be an ass on Twitter. Don't like people calling out out for saying stuff? Don't say stupid shit. Simple as that.

Same thing applies to this forum.

Better question is how many have been cancelled that should not have been? Unfairly and unjustifiably removed? Any? Or are we ok with using the 1st Amendment incorrectly again by believing people can say whatever they want on a platform.

Why does it matter if they've "canceled " accounts?

Or, buy it. Heh.

Quit being stupid.

Who's to judge?

I like Elon's contribution to the advanced popularity of electric vehicles, energy storage, as well as his contribution to space flight, and a legitimate broadband satellite internet solution.

I think he's good for pushing advances faster than government or the corporate world is interested in going. And he has the finances to allow that.

So far, its been mostly a positive thing, IMO. I'm apprehensive about the twitter thing... It could go either way.

I'd garner it matters to the cencelled.
Possibly. I don't know what that matters to the discussion, but that's your way.
Why does it matter to you that twitter cancels people's accounts?

Twitter. Just like if you walk into my house and call me a fat piece of shit, I have every right to make you leave.

Twitter can make people leave who violate their terms of service. They shouldn't be required to host things on their servers that they don't want.

Great points! Let's se how Elon handles things, shall we?

We will. I'm apprehensive about it. I think Twitter has generally done a pretty decent job, though I do wish they'd get rid of the algorithm and go back to the timeline, or at least let me pick that as an option.

Hey, I'm just the one deflecting questions/accusations here. :)

Simply looking to see how Musk decides to involve himself with this big brother of an organization. Or so it seems.

In the app, if you click on the little star in the top right corner, you can switch it to timeline mode.

Yeah, but I don't think even that's free of the algorithm...

You're always deflecting questions instead of answering them

You are grossly over inflating the power he has at Twitter. He isn't a majority owner, he can't just say "do as I say".

I think you could figure out my stance here if you wanted to.

No I know why Chris is the lead mod in here.

You're spelling "led" mod wrong. He's the one who deals with the people who are currently chewing on led paint chips.

Heh. OK. Depends on how you spell lead chips, I guess.
