Elon Musk Twitter - latest: Tesla titan says his ownership would aid ‘future of civilisation’ at live Ted talk

Saudi Prince Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud explains rejecting Elon Musk’s offer
“I don’t believe that the proposed offer by @elonmusk ($54.20) comes close to the intrinsic value of (Twitter) given its growth prospects. Being one of the largest & long-term shareholders of Twitter, @Kingdom_KHC & I reject this offer.”

Which is far lower percent of his fortune than I paid of mine.

That's not an effective way to govern a society. He should be required to pay far more.

<edit>I don't blame him for only paying that much. I blame our political leaders for allowing the wealthy to write laws which allow it, and I blame society for putting those political leaders in that position with the current system.

Sure it does. On anybody worth over $500 million (just as an example).
That would just be the beginning....

When the income tax was introduced, it was 'only for the wealthy'. As time goes on, it's easier to ensnare a lot more people into that tax. Give it ~30 years and the tax would be for everyone.

Let's not conflate unrealized capital gains with income... They are not the same.

I didn't.
And there is no possible way that tax would ever be for everybody. That would destroy Wallstreet and our system in general.

It only works as a disincentive for the ultra wealthy.

Doubtful. He's probably doing this for self-promotion to build his own network from the ground up.

Apparently, he has a Plan 'B'. He's not immediatley disclosing what that is, though.

I love when people who are dirt poor, care more about what taxes a billionaire is being asked to pay.

Why does that remark strangely remind me of this skit? (May Chris Farley R.I.P.)

Anyway.....
