My dad had a heart attack last night while he was sleeping, He already has heart disease and high blood pressure. He's not fat, he's in perfect shape appearance wise but it's from working his body to hard over the years. I just want to apologize to you guys if I seem to be in a bad mood within the next week or two. I'm a pretty strong person and I can keep my composure but you never know. I'm sure I will be a bit on edge.The members I talk to off of BBW know how close me and my dad are. I don't expect any pity or anything I just wanted to say sorry now in case I snap off on one of you guys for something stupid.

DAmn man I feel bad for you. I remember the ambulance coming to my house because it happened to my uncle a couple years back. My cousin was sleeping over and its was around Halloween of '04 and he didn't make it and he was gone. :(Hopefully he is alright.

Wow I really am sorry man and I'm not just saying that. Your dad seems like a great guy based on what he does for a career so I hope he continues do get better.

Damn im sorry to hear that. I also know how you feel. Im really worried about my Dad's condition sometimes. The feeling sucks..Stay strong, And I hope he gets better.

That's terrible, man. I'm sorry. I hope he's alright. Do you know what level the heart attack was? I remember my teacher had one like a month ago, and it was apparently graded a 3 on a scale of 1-30, so he was fine and he came back in like a week or two...

I'm not sure, I will try to find out when I go to the hospital. The problem is since he's a USMarshall/police officer he wrestles around with guys every night. Who's to say he won't have another one?Oh yeah, Another problem with my dad is that he is to stubborn. He's in the military and he could be going to Iraq soon. Instead of letting them know about his condition he hides it. The stress and heat over in Iraq will mess with his heart. I wish he would suck up his pride and say something.

This does suck, sorry to hear that Tony I hope everything goes good for your dad,you and the rest of your family, it's obviously a tough time right now just try to stay strong, and hopefully your dad will be ok, I wish you guys the best of luck.

My friends brother was in the Navy, then he had an asthma attack and was unlisted.

Man - your dad is a huge part of BBW, you're always tellin us about him. You're dad is a great man and I'm glad he's ok - we all wish him a Speedy recovery. I'm really sorry you had to go through that - it's one of the most stressful things ever, but I know he'll be ok. Also, I'm sure your dad's work will understand if he stays out of work for a little while.

Dude that sucks. Two of my friends parents have heart problems, so I definitely know what goes into an experience like that, and it sucks. Both of my friends parents got better after their heart attacks, so hopefully your father has the same speedy recovery.

Heart disease is pretty scary stuff, god that has to be terrible for you to go through.

F*ck. Sorry BALLA, I hope your dad gets better. I agree with Cambyland. Somehow I doubt that they would send him over there with a heart condition. That seems like a lawsuit in the making, not to be talking about that now, but I would think the government has more sense than that.

Turns out it wasn't a heart attack. It was extremely close though. He has Atrial Fibrillation, a leaky heart valve, and an enlarged heart. They think his sleep apnea caused this. He stops breathing 150-200 times each night in his sleep.Atrial fibrillation is caused when the upper chambers of the heart (the atria) quiver instead of beating. During AF, the upper chambers of the heart beat between 350 and 600 times per minute. Normal heart rhythm is between 60 and 80 beats per minute. Because the pumping function of the upper chambers isn?t working properly, the blood is not completely emptied from the heart?s chambers, causing it to pool and sometimes clot. I had the same thing, I was born with a hole in my valve and my entire life did exactly that. Pretty much blood flows backwards into the heart, and it can wear down the valve and enlarge the heart. I had a pig valve(ya I know..lol) put in place of my right valve. Your dads case might be a bit different, but it sounds very similar.

Balla I don't know you that well but from the times I have contacted with you, you seem like a great guy. That's terrible man, I'm sorry for that, it's tough and I know what you're going through. One of my good friend's dad had this same thing happen to him, it's hard and there's no reasoning behind it and there's nothing you can do. It just sucks in general, I'm sorry man. You'll be in my prayers man, hope he can recover well.

I wish your Dad the best luck on a way to a quick and extremely healthy recovery, Tony. I, too, like you currently are, was very very close with my Dad.

Tony, I feel for you. Hope your dad wil recover quickly. I think you should tell your dad how you feel about him and that he may be risking his pride but he's also risking himself from his family. Tell him how much you love him and admire him and would like to have him alive for as long as you can.
