So my current PCP hates Trump. I don't (btw I didn't vote for him in 2016 but will be in 2020 if anything just to spite the media...cry me a river). But I think he crossed a line recently when he told me at the end of a check up that he thinks Trump is a dumbass. I don't care who you are or what you do for a living, you don't bring politics into the workplace - even if it's your own business - and not expect some people to object.

One of his first cousins is the head dean of the Washington national cathedral and is an adamant opponent of the prez. Needless to say, his publications to the cathedral website are overwhelmingly anti Trump. My doc recently printed and posted an article to his cork board in his patient room and so I read the whole thing. Here is the title page:

The entire article can be read at https://cathedral.org/have-we-no-decency-a-response-to-president-trump.html

If you read the whole thing, you'll find (if you're honest) that it's all subjective with no factual info.

I will say that this doc is probably my fav doctor ever. He gives a shit about his patients and has always come of as a genuine guy and I trust his medical advice to the fullest. Still, I took issue with him putting this on display and took him to task on my most recent visit. He told me that it's "about not being a dick" to which I responded that it's all just subjective opinion and that you can't dictate to your patients what you think is right or wrong.

It's a respectful disagreement, but I just don't think this belongs in a professional environment regardless of your beliefs.

This is just one of many examples today that makes me mad that so many people think they have the moral high ground. I don't agree with everything the prez says and does, but his presidency is the best example of how ridiculously one-sided our country's thinking has become. Acting "presidential" is just a cop out for saying that political correctness is how things should go. This is why he got elected. The system created the Trump presidency and if you disagree then your head is stuck up your ass.

...Hmmm, you accuse others of not being willing to listen to others' opinions, yet you're doing the very same thing.

That is literally not true - there is factual information in it. For instance, the very first sentence.

Do you think there is a moral high ground? Do you just disagree with what the moral high ground looks like, or do you think the entire concept is flawed?

How is it one-sided if you think one thing and your doc thinks another? Aren't those two sides?

Well, there's a well-reasoned argument. Hard to understand why no one wants to talk to you, isn't it?

no one cares if he acts “presidential”. We care if he acts like a complete Fucking idiot and lies his ass off every. Single. Day. Facts. You may like the lying and corruption, your doctor and I don’t. Hard to argue who is right and who is wrong.

Wait. So you're voting for Trump to spite the media... who you don't know... just to screw yourself and others over?

Yeah. Sly is a smart dog...

To be fair, haven't all politicians and presidents before him done the same but just without the brashness?

Essentially a personal insult there. @SlyPokerDog

And what do you mean "who you don't know"? Does personally knowing the media pundits who lie to us on a daily basis make a difference?

The smart guy part? Not really a personal insult. I do agree with him, you are smart.

Dude, you're voting for a guy who literally insults everyone in his path. From veterans to the disabled to women. Don't get all fake outrage on me now.

And what do you mean "who you don't know"? Does personally knowing the media pundits who lie to us on a daily basis make a difference?

So, you're voting for a guy who lies even more than the pundits do? Does that make sense? If I wanted to spite everyone I didn't know who disagreed with me I'd just end up screwing myself and everyone around me. Why are you so concerned about them that you're willing to hurt yourself and your own country? Seems like backwards ass thinking.

But let's ignore all of those veterans, disabled, and women who voted for him.

So said:

Oh that's not subjective at all.

But let's ignore all of those veterans, disabled, and women who voted for him.

So, does voting for him make him not insulting? What kind of logic are you using here? You posted so I'm discussing you. Not the "voters."

Oh that's not subjective at all.

It's actually not. I've noticed that people who don't like to read or learn new pieces of information throw their hands up and say everything is subjective. Or that everyone does the same thing the president does. It's just lazy. There's nothing subjective about my claim at all. There's nobody on the air that does straight news reporting that lies to you as much as the president does. If you think that's subjective, then you're already a lost cause.

Stop with the false equivocation.

I'm not implying that voting for him makes him not insulting and that's actually an insult to intelligence. He has insulted some people and I won't deny that. Thing is, I think that voting for a candidate based on policies is more important than some people's feelings. It's not the easiest thing to say, but I stand by it.

And now you're implying that I don't like to read or learn new info. You really don't know me. I used to vote democrat, but learning new info led me to stop doing so. And I think you're totally wrong about on air reporting. The media lies to us WAY more than trump does imho.

Like this? No. Not close.
You’re right. Other presidents have smiled and waved while lying us into wars that kill thousands. That’s how you act ‘presidential’. Much of the Trump criticisms are perfectly valid, but this shit where everyone is pretending he’s the worst person who’s ever been president is just stupid and false. It really shows people’s priorities (or lack therof). I guess a lot of people are fine with getting bent over as long as the person doing it “talks nice” lol. Acting “presidential” is just a euphemism for being a well-mannered lying prick, as opposed to just a regular lying prick.

Yes, actually he is, and it's not even close. There has never been another POTUS who lies with a greater frequency and behaves as rudely as Trump.

If you can offer actual proof to the contrary, please provide it.

Generally the burden of evidence lies with the one making the claim. Just blurting out a random unprovable factoid and demanding someone prove you wrong is kind of stupid. Did you really expect me to dig up some tally list of Trump lies and compare it to other presidents’ non-existent lie tally lists?

Like I said though, priorities (or lack therof). War and death are just fine as long as the president talks nice. Ok.

No meanies though!

Are we going to pretend Bush wasn’t worse than Trump?
