My Hero, and inspiration to be a Blazer Maniac.

Well it's been awhile since I've posted and that is because the man who planted the Blazer Maniac seed in me is dying.

My father was diagnosed Monday with terminal cancer. This is his second bout with cancer the first coming 10 years ago. He had prostate Cancer in 1999 and they gave him a variety of treatments including radiation. At the time we were told, and subsequently forgot, that he ran the risk of developing secondary cancers in the future from the radiation.

Well 10 years have passed and my father has terminal cancer. He isn't interested in fighting it this time as he has been through so much for 10 years with hormone replacement therapy, radiation etc. that he is in pain constantly and wants to have a merciful release.

I'm writing this for two reasons: One to put this season into perspective nightmare that it is and secondly, I am praying that we fire Nate at the end of the season and bring back Rick Adleman. Though my father won't be alive to see it, I'm hoping that he is able to cheer for the team when we uncork the Champagne in the next few years.

This ones for you pops you taught me to love this team and you are my inspiration in life. In many ways.

I hope tonight the Blazers can pull one out against the Fakeshow for my pops.

Very sorry Idog. My mother, jlprk, was paralyzed in bed the last 6 years of her life with Parkinson's Disease and I took care of her. If your Dad can talk, you might write his biography. You will find things you didn't know. I wrote my father's biography just in time, and I'm sure glad I did. Didn't get it for my mother, as she couldn't talk anymore. I have lots of questions that will never be answered. Anyway, that's just an idea that would bring you closely together in a mutual activity.

IDOG I can relate to your pain, I lost my father to cancer. I was with him when he passed.

From someone who almost lost his father this year . . . I feel what you are going through Idog. Be strong for your dad. He has probably come to terms with it and is at peace . . . as long as his loved ones are at peace with it too.
