Dear Nate,
I have been a long time Blazer fan since 1984. I have been here through the "thick and thin", watching this team go from contenders to jailblazers to being the next "up and coming" team in the West. I wanted you to know you were one of the reasons our team went from being one of the "biggest jokes" in the league to a "team no one wanted to face in the playoffs" just a year ago. But in the same token, there comes a time to make that next step. Taking this team to the next level.
I want to be frank with you, because I love this team with all my heart. When the Blazers lose, I feel I lose. I feel like my own child has been hurt in some way. I am what you call a "Serious Homer" and a "Truly Myopic" fan that thinks our team does no wrong. But in the same breath, I am like a parent that always harps on their child. It's not that we want to badger them and prove how much they are wrong, but more like knowing they are so much better than they are making themselves to be.
You see, I think this team is amazing. Stacked with talent, great coach, great fans, and great GM and an amazing Owner. So when I see dysfunction or confusion, I get worried. Frankly, there is absolutely no reason this team should ever be a "sub .500 team" in my eyes. In fact, I believe we should be fighting for one of the top 2 seeds in the West. This is the reason why I question the coaching, substitution patterns and inability to have chemistry. The players may be young, but well over 90% of the team is still here. I question you as a coach, not because I want to blame someone, but I can't understand how a team with so much talent looks so "God awful" on the floor. I see no communication, no team huddles, no talking on the bench and no "team unity". These were all the things I've seen last season, while you were coaching.
I want to believe in you Nate. I want to think you are the perfect coach for the job. Why would anyone want to fire a coach that was a part of taking a team with 27 wins to 54 wins in 3 years? That's a 100% improvement. I want to see a month from now, having everyone in all the Blazer forums calling me out and say "I told you so, you dumb ass!" and me having to eat some of the biggest crow on the planet.
Please prove me wrong Nate. Make me look stupid and bring this team around. Bring unity to this ball club and most importantly, make us all proud to be Blazer fans.
Sincerely,
Mags.
