My time working with Terry Stotts taught me a lot about how a coach should interact with stats—and what it means to be a coach in the modern era of the NBA.



He always outperformed MY expectations - which I take as damning for Olshey as much as anything.

Stotts was let down by the performances of mainly 2 guys (CJ & Nurk). When your 2nd and 3rd best players underwhelm on the court, it's hard to reach potential. Stotts is the fall guy here. Nurk is delusional in his thinking. Stotts gave him nurturing and tough love. Nurk plays this act elsewhere, he'll be bench warming again, (See Michael Malone) . Grass ain't always greener. CJ 's performance was more mind numbing. He just looked not engaged, almost sickly. Hopefully nothing was going on in his life to cause this. Pro sports can eat good people for breakfast. Worst part of it all.
