We all say it at some point. No matter what race we are. it's an addictive fault. and other cultures (not black) should not be blamed for this word. okay, white people used this word during slavery, and post slavery. america has pasted that. nigger is supposed to be an offensive term towards a black person. I just don't get why african americans use the word so much, but than get offended when someone else uses it. people are bound to use the word if they say it 24/7. Im just saying, its not a good word, but black people use it, but when someone else says it they get mad. Whites and other races dont promote this word anymore. the people the word is offensive to, promote it! share your thoughts on this.

I say it all the time, in a non-racist way. I think its alright to say unless its in that racist way. Haha, even a few of my black friends call me a nigga sometimes. The word has evolved over the years though. Now its basically the equivalent of dude.

I use the word sometimes too. I use it in jokes or when I'm hangin with my friends. One of my black friends doesn't care if I use it, and I don't see the slang term, with the "a" at the end as offensive. The "er" one is. Isn't the english languague beautiful.

I use it too, unless i'm around black strangers, because then I dont want to cause a racial disturbance.

Funny joke I heard about this by Vince Morris, a black comedian who said white people are pissed off that they can't use the word nigger when their the ones who invented it. But I honestly never got why black people use it so much at each other, and not even really for it's meaning. It's a derogatory word for white people but not for blacks?

Yeah, you dont see alot of white ppl going around callin each other crackers. I guess thats what how cool it is to be black. They can take a word that is taboo for a white man to say and make it real cool and make it ok for each other to say. :dunno:

When I'm around friends I use it. I don't see the big deal with it, you hear it all the time so it just comes natural.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>When I'm around friends I use it. Maybe a black triggering mechanism for violence?

Here is my take on why African Americans refer to one another as "niggas." The word "nigga" (ending with -a) could be seen as a sign of respect between one another. The word "nigger" with the -er ending is the offensive one, and I think atleast a portion of the African American population would be offended if they were called that by someone within their own race.

Explain to me why if a white person says someting racial to a black person its such a big deal, yet they say the same things to whites and its considered normal..

I barely use it because I don't know many black people. Not like I have anything against them. Just don't know that many personally.

Just in general, its used in lyrics of songs as well as daily conversation amongst blacks. If its so offensive, why do they constantly use it themselves.

If you mean that saying something like some black people are thugs, then there is no reason that should be viewed as a racist statement because it's not. It also to be acknowledged that whites, hispanics, asians, etc. can be, and some are, involved in that team of behavior. Now, if something like "all black people are good for nothing thugs", then obviously you're entering a different territory.

Most black ppl I know really don't mind anybody but white ppl saying it but I usually refrain.

Thats not what Im saying. What Im saying is black people use the world freely amongst themselves in their speech and musical lyrics, however, when someone of a different race says the same thing, it immediatly becomes racist.

Once, after I heard Real Nigga Roll call for the first time last year, i couldnt stop saying "nigga"

well back when i listened to rap i'd use it simply because it's ominpresent. It pops up every other second in lyrics, and in speech, but then i made myself replace the word with something like "people" just cause i didn't want to be misunderstood. Now i don't listen to rap anymore, so situations where i'd want to use it don't even come up.

EXACTLY! If a white person says the word nigga around a black person, he is bound to get jumped. But then when a black guy says cracka or whitey, everyone laughs and nothing is meant of it. Makes zero sense to me.

Yeah that's tough for me because I listen to nothing but rap, and I always mouth/rap the words and everything with the song, but I rarely do it in public at all just for that reason, that the N word is in almost every other line.

Frankly, i use it everyday, in almost every sentance, the fact that i am black may have something to do with that though...ok heres the lowdownNigger- do'nt use it, seriusly i would beat the ish out of youNigga- if you are a close friend of mine, i do not mind at all, it is a term of friendship or a generel name for a male humannow the reason we use it so much? well its like a given birthright, whites used it for years, its like beating a little kid, and then that little kid gets older, he is going to beat you back, now, i dont care what or who you are, (wel unless your black) dont ever say nigger, if your by yourself, you can say it all you want, i meen come on, you guys get to be president and we get the word nigger, can we call it even?Oh, i just saw some posts, you wanna know why blacks take it worse? becuz we care about it more, we've taken more racial abuse than anyone (maybe mexicans) and even now we take it, its just a fact of life, if two people aply for a job and one is white and oe is black its just a fact that the white person is more likely to get the job, theres no denying it, you may not be racist or you may not think you are, but everyone is just a little racist, even i am admitedly, theres just those days were i wouldnt mind if every white person in the world died, but i dont REALLY hate white people, i have many white friends, but what im saying is, everyone is just a little more comfortable atound there own race, they may not even know it.also another reason about the cracker and nigger thing, you COULD jump people for saying it, you just dont, white people just dont take it as hard.and "fabolous" i didnt really aprecieate your "blacks are a weaker being" comment >_>.

I see the term nigg3r as a racism term, but in ways, I don't find it TOO offensive for non-black people saying it, 2PACALYPSE (by the way, that album is tight, especially The Streetz Are Deathrow and Keep Ya Head Up).Why am I saying that? The n word is more of a "misconception," not a "racist term." 2PACPALYPSE, unless your parents are straight out from Africa or a third-world country near it, you are not African-American.You're more of a African-American-American-American. Lots of people use the word nigg3r for black people overall, but since lots of people who are from Pakistan (above India) can ALSO be as dark as black people, and since black people can have light skin, nigg3r does not work as an offensive word for somebody like you, 2PACALYPSE.I might've been contradictory in this reply, but MY TWO MAIN POINTS...-African-Americans who actually have had African ancestors really only 5-10 generations above them don't need to feel offended. They need to explain it's actually a misconception and is only used for African people. The only offense would be the miconception.-The only straight-out "racism" in nigg3r is for African people.I'm not completely sure of your background, 2PACALYPSE, but you're not anything near a nigg3r or African-American if I'm guessing correctly.

Thank you for opening that, i HATE the term african american, i just want to be called black, is that ok? your just as african as me, everyone is a little african thats were the first people came from, IVE NEVER EVEN BEEN TO AFRICA!!!and nigger is just a term towards black's in general

I used to use it a ton in jokes, but nowadays I never use it. I haven't used it in a almost a year now, and I'll probably never use it again/The thing I hate, is that black people say it everywhere, then when a white person says it, it's considered the most offensive term in the book. No sense made
