Nas - 4 year / 28M

If you don’t want me to compare them, don’t bring Steph up. Find a player that isn’t a hall of Famer to compare with please.
I think that’s a pretty fair comparison situation-wise, you’re just getting caught up in knowing what Steph ultimately became.

Forget about his HOF resume and remember who Steph was at the time. The Warriors were literally willing to trade Steph to the Bucks in the Bogut trade but the Bucks wanted Ellis because they really thought Jennings was already their PG and they TOO were worried about Steph coming off double ankle surgeries.

Steph was a lotto pick and was the obvious better player, that’s why he was extended for more than 4 yrs/$28m. BlazerBender was talking about the injury history, which was actually more concerning than Little’s right now. In a different universe, Steph’s career ended up being MPJ’s current career.

28M for a 22 y/o is life-changing. It's insurance that he'll be set for life no matter what. He still has opportunity to make more over his career.

I totally agree with this. I think you'd see more deals like this if agents didn't exist. However, they do, and they almost always would strongly advise against a deal like this unless they too felt their client was unlikely to warrant a larger deal in the near future.

This could turn out amazing for the Blazers, but I think it's telling just how much of a risk Nas is in the eyes of all parties involved.

Nas just needs to believe in himself and go for it. If he get's to the level many of us think he can, his next deal will more than make up for this one.

If I read of anyone else complaining over this deal, I will kick them.

There will be approx 200-220 players making more than him every year of that deal.

That would be above market if he's the 10th man on a non-playoff team.

Having said that, it's nice to sign a deal that doesn't look bad on day 1 (Turner, Meyers, Crabbe, Nurk, etc)

Even if he plays the rest of his carreer like he played the first game of the season, the deal wouldn't bother me. It's just not a lot and easily tradable

That's very generous of you. I'd expect more even from a 3rd-stringer.

Probably not even in the rotation unless there is an injury or foul trouble.

I would gladly spend the next 4 years getting surgeries for various joints if someone paid me like that!

But hart and sharpe will get all the minutes. Also gp2 will take minutes

Yeah, there is some depth there, which is good because injuries will occur.

Keep in mind that from a weight standpoint, other than our 3 centers, only Watford is bigger. ( Little and Winslow are about the same weight) And with a 7'2 inch wing, I think he will need to fill in at PF at times as well. It is a long season.
