If they're going to call these ticky tack penalties on Kreider he may as well embrace it, and get his money's worth. He's a pretty big, needs to start playing like it.

This team needs an infusion of youth. Seeing a little hunger, from the younger players might actually do the veterans some good. I'm not sure I want to see this team limp into the playoffs, only to have trouble scoring against someone's backup goalie. I'd like to say that they're better than that, but they aren't. This team doesnt necessarily need an infusion of youth. 3 of the top 6 are 25 or under (Kreider, Hags, Stepan). Nash isn't even 30 yet. If you expand to top 9, Zucc and Brassard are both 26. That means 5 of the top 9 are 26 or under. The best defenseman is 24. None of the big 3 dman have hit 30 either. Miller (who can't even drink yet) and McIlrath (21) will be making the jump next year.

Id say this team has plenty of youth, what it needs is an infusion of size and toughness. And I think (hope) that's where Sather is going to spend his attention this offeason.

Sometimes youth has nothing to do with age, but hunger and I don't think the Rangers best players (on paper) are hungry. I'm not pointing my finger at the entire team, just the players who are supposed to be the stars (on paper), or leaders. And yes, this team needs to definitely get bigger and stronger, with a little bit of hell bent on destruction thrown in. Can't remember the last time I watched a team that consistently allows players to camp out in front of Hank as much as this team does. That's been a common theme, and I'd like to see one or two defenders that will take that as a personal insult when someone from the other team tries that. Right now, it's as if they're saying "I'm okay over here"

I do think St. Louis will do well with Zuccarello, and he needs to hurry up and get well.

It's obvious the makeup of this team will not allow it to defend one another. Forwards play scared when challenged. Defenseman are bounced around most nights. Physical teams get a night off, or just have to play hard on the Rangers for a period, and impose their will. You can see Nash wilt and skake his head when he gets run at or cross checked (he then just plays on the perimeter), Richards also disappears when he gets put on his azz. The rangers have no one to step up to protect these guys and allow them some room on the ice. Iginla smacked Staal and McDonough around the other night and basically turned the tide of the game. Pouliot played tough for a stretch this season but that's about it. Kreider needs to play physical every night but has shied off b/c of dumb penalties. Boyle is a waste-period and Carcillo and Dorsett are the same player...undersized, ineffective crap.

Look the biggest problem with this team is not size or even toughness its inability to finish. Toughness, size and handling adversity are issues. You saw it vs Boston who is a horrible matchup for us. What you also saw however was a team flying in the 1st period and could only score one goal despite numerous great opportunities. Finishing is the biggest problem. The Rangers are 3rd in shots and 20th in scoring. Guess what, St Louis will help with that. He will make his linemates better and will improve an already decent PP.

I am not going to say we don't need more size vs big physical teams, we do and we just got smaller too with MSL. Playing a team like Boston in the playoffs is a disaster for us. But scoring is the primary issue and that is why I am excited to have MSL. Let him get adjusted he will make an impact down the stretch + next year.
