I have to assume that a poster who uses his real name in a photo like that is harmless.

It upset me, and still does to some degree, but I realize he's likely harmless in real life. That said, I don't think he's moderating material.

Well...unless you're certain he's harmless, that sounds more like cowering in fear to me and waiting to die. And far from "safe" to just not react to a potential death threat.

Logic says the safest thing to do when threatened is to permanently eliminate the threat with all expedience and might at your disposal.

That's been my approach. Keep the potential psychokiller engaged, and get some "footprints" to protect yourself. At the very least, the threats toward me have been pulled down, as they should have been.

It's a picture of me, at work, with an airsoft gun. The gun is pointed at the ground.

PapaG asked me to post a picture of myself and I did it. It wasn't intended as a threat. I posted "hi papaG" in my custom user title.

The barrel has an orange tip at the end for pete's sake. :biglaugh:

You can't control what someone is threatend about. I kid you not, my ex-wife accussed me of trying to kill her by leaving my shoes in the middle of the floor so she would trip. In her mind... the threat was real. A reasonable person can assume I was just lazy of course... which is exactly what I planned.... mah ha ha ;)
 
My ex claimed that I tried to kill her too! All she did was wake up and my hands were wrapped around her neck while her head was under her pillow! Woulda' worked to if it wasn't for you meddling kids!
