Okay, with it determined that Miller is coming off the bench, why doesn't he give that squad the "Green Light" to run more. Maybe play more of a pressure defense to create turn-overs and fast break points. Seriously, I think we are wasting on the talents of Miller, having him try and be a Blake type player.

Give Miller, Outlaw, Fernandez the green light to run on every opportunity and suck the life out of teams. It will bring a different dimension to our ball club, plus utilize all the talent on our team.

I am a fan of "Half Court" basketball, but I am not a fan of players being wasted to their full ability. In fact, I believe Nate's inability to control himself on every offensive possession is suffocating the team's organic growth.

The second unit is not well suited to grind it out half court basketball.

It appears to me that Nate is trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

Maybe it's the GM's fault for not bringing in guys who fit with Nate's game plan.

You are missing the point entirely. The second unit isn't designed to "Grind it out" like the starters. I don't want to be a "Run and Gun" team. More of one that utilizes the strengths of the players coming in. So I believe the 2nd unit is and can put the pressure on defensively by trapping, full court pressure and force turnovers. Mix it up, and let the other teams get confused.

We don't have to be "one dimensional" and I'm sure we will be more of a half court offense, which I believe is the best bet. BUT... The second unit players more limited minutes and that type of "Spark" could be the very thing that makes the other team run out of gas.

A good coach is one that understands the skill and play of the players he has on the floor. It's up to him to motivate, teach and design plays to utilize everyone's talents. Don't force a player to be something he isn't. Merge all the talents and bring them in when it's needed.

Portland definately doesn't need to run more. We are too turnover prone and watching the team last year run when they did was aweful. Roy when the ball is thrown to him ALWAYS slows it down and he is our best player. He probably knows we don't pass well in a fast break situation.

Everyone blames Nate, but watch how well we space when we run and how often the ball is stolen or there is a turnover. We can alway blame Nate, but our players need to show they can perform running the ball too.

I totally disagree with that post. The coach teaches the players proper spacing on the floor during breaks. How can you think it's not Nate's responsibility just because he's not playing. Fact is, the more you take your game to different levels, the more you make other teams have to think more and play out of sync.

Nate has never had a game plan. Nate was brought in, only Paul Allen knows why, to teach players KP's game plan. Someone forgot to tell him.
