Nate possible choice for the Bobcats

Might be interesting to see what Larry Brown could do.

Be careful what you wish for. A bunch of you wanted to get rid of KP also.

HCP, aren't you tired of Nate's Half Court offense
HCP, or Nate's Defensive Oriented Mindset

We have young talent that hardly get used like Armon Johnson and Babbitt. Why do those guys only get barely 3 minutes of playing time when we are beating a team by 10 points or more. Why did we pick them?

Babbitt and Armon are not ready and we need wins at all costs right now.

I would prefer a more uptempo offense (although it would make my job harder). I know we are NEVER going to be completely healthy, but do you honestly think the reason we have the record we do is because of the coaching? I believe it was because of Nate we did as well as we did the past 2 seasons. Overcoming injury after injury......... we for some reason traded away a lot of talent and recieved nothing in return....... THAT is why we have the record we do. Don't just get rid of him to get rid of him.

I don't know who out there is better, but I do believe that Nate isn't the guy to have for yet another rebuild and I don't think he quite has the chops to be a championship caliber coach either. So given both of those "realities" I'm OK with taking a flier on somebody new.

Maybe its not really our Doctors but merely Jay Jenson. Every team has injuries but it seems that theres something with our athletic training that seems out of the ordinary.

With a roster built to run, Nate's offense only suits one player: Brandon Roy, and he's nowhere near the player he used to be.

He may be defensive-minded but the Blazers have been a middle-of-the-pack defensive team under him.

I have been on the Nate Hate Wagon for awhile because of no one other than Brandon Roy's stats improving. With Brandon going down and the recent upswing for some players, I have softened that stance a bit. As long as we continue to see improvement, I am not in favor of making a change.

Does anyone honestly think we should be dominating right now without anyone that is playing like an All-Star?

This is really it. Nate is a good coach for certain players. When our team was being built around Roy and Oden, Nate was the right coach for the job. But, now that Roy is just one of the players instead of the one you build around, the team needs to take a new direction and play at a different pace. Year after year after year, Nate talks about changing the pace ,but it never happens. The players change, but the system stays the same. Now, we have players that are better suited in my opinion to playing a different system with fewer iso's and more speed. Nate has not shown an ability to adjust his system, so the Blazers must change the coach.

we did trade away talent but bayless and webster.... we might have 3 more wins

i'll take whoever wants to make this team run run run

Chip Kelly. oops, wrong sport, but really, I bet he would be one hell of a bball coach.

I know everyone here hates Nate, but who out there is better?

I hate that question because who knows who is or is not better. Before the season would you have said Matthews was better than Roy?

What I do know is that Nate is not the right coach to take us deep into the playoffs.

The questions seems valid to me. Just like when you trade a player. Who you get in return is kind of important. Especially when it comes to coaching, because most fans have no clue if a coach is good or not. We are not present when he does most of his job. Evaluating a player is a little easier.

Good Grief! There are people on this board that could draw up better offensive and defensive schemes than Nate! If Brandon was healthy it would still be clear out 1 on 5 hope for the best! That's not coaching that's 24 hour fitness play.

He's a defensive minded coach and yesterday my Grandmother could have gotten to the rim! SHEEESSHHHH! Keep in mind outside of Camby our best defensive player the rest he's coached for four + years.... WOW!!!

Very doubtful

...thinking back on it now, the one's who wanted to get rid of KP were onto something.

If you don't count Roy (which you shouldn't this year), we are the only current Western Conference playoff team without an all star. That's not easy for any coach.

Winning ugly is tolerable. Losing ugly is box office poison.

Nate was Roy's coach, not the team's coach. If he can't adapt to the players he actually has available, then he needs to go.

You hate that question because you have no depth to your "I hate Nate, Nate sucks" position. Firing someone when you have no idea who is available that would represent an upgrade makes no sense. If the Blazers fired McMillan and got someone of the caliber of PJ Carlisimo, the team would be much, much, much worse off.

I agree with this- in general. Granted, Nate has been saddled with a lot of injured players, but he refused to alter what he wanted in a game plan to suit his players best abilities. That is something good coaches do. Rather than taking open court players and letting them run hard, he tried to make them plodding type players. Add to that his rotations have been probably more detrimental to developing young talent than not.

He has his good coaching qualities, but I think we need a smarter coach in here. As to who, I really don't know. There are always a few really good assistant coaches around.

Not necessarily. I mean Mo Cheeks is a shitty coach, but he has a better winning % as a Blazers coach than Nate does.

I hate the question because it's unanswerable. When Dr Jack left, we promoted Adelman, and I remember people talking about why we didn't bring in someone more proven. Adelman turned out to be a great choice. You simply can't answer "who would be better". Laimbeer, Auriemma, Budenholzer, Adelman all could be better, and all could be worse. Larry Brown is a future HOF coach that just got shit canned. PJ was an outstanding college coach that seemd like a good hire, but wasn't. You just never know how a team will react to a coach. Nate gets a lot out of this team, but his offense will always be an anchor for them in the playoffs. Another coach might get us blown out when we are this unhealthy, but win us a title, or getus deep in the playoffs if sorta healthy.
