I agree, I see nothing in the forced patriotism of the Star Spangled Banner at every ball game. It's meaningless rote. On July 4, maybe.

Best rendition I ever heard was when San Francisco Opera had a performance in the park on July 4. I mean, they were opera singers and did an amazing job.
