Can i ask you a question without you getting offended? Are you asian? or a bucks fan?
Because what you are proposing is pretty one sided. And its not to our favor.

Why, do you overrate players that are of your race? What a ridiculous, asinine assumption.

edit: ok so you don't like the move, but assume its because of racial bias? WTF you wouldn't be saying this if the player in question was white or black.

Yeah people do that actually, im spanish from madrid and spanish people would take calderon or gasol over kobe any time of the day. And so would chinese people with yao. And black and white its all the same because at the end they are AMERICANS where the nba is, and where the vast majority of the fans are from, thats why i wouldnt say that if i was talking about an american player.

I'm going to edit this and post my response after I recover from reading this.

EDIT:

So all chinese people think alike, rate players the same, and have no differentiating opinions? :-\

THE ONLY TWO RACES IN THE USA ARE WHITE AND BLACK!?!?!?!?

Well dude what can i tell you. Even though my parents are from spain i know better, i wouldnt do that. Gasol for kobe.. yeah right. But people are patriotic and they cheer and want good for their own, more than for other people from other parts of the world. And when did i say that all people thought alike? I just said that THE VAST MAJORITY would not think twice about what i said before with kobe and gasol. Mostly people that follow the game overseas. And i am not talking out of my ass. I have many friends abroad and seem to follow this pattern " they care and cheer for players that are from their respective countries more than for players that are from other places they are unfamiliar with. Im surprised this is a big shock for you.

Um....ok when it comes to basketball, white and black americans is pretty much it. Are there a lot of asian americans in this league? no. mexican americans? nop Why do you have to generalize? Im talking about BASKETBALL in the united states.

You're talking out of your ass if you're pretending to think that all people of a certain race think the same way on a particular issue because of their race; way to over-generalize. Anyone of any race has just an equal opportunity to form an objective opinion as anyone else. Lets not lose the context: you were insinuating that Lurk were asian because he thinks highly of Yi. Yet you then make a distinction, that a supposed racial bias isn't found amongst black and white americans, somehow trancending race to nationality. You're all over the place.

For the record I didn't think Lurk was asian...just retarded.

thought I should throw my two cents in.

I don't think it should matter. It's like saying if anyone says they think highly of Sean Williams they're just doing so because they're black.

Realistically there can be fan bias but it's not racial it's a national bias...

for example Yao recieves tremendous support from a large chinese fanbase, which showed as he started over Shaq his first three seasons in the NBA even though O'neal was obviously the better player...

uhh... SERIOUSLY I mean WTF!?

lol, Im Chinese, I think SHAWXX is chinese as well, he likes DEVIN HARRIS
and I do not really like Yi or Yao.... As you can see, my favourite player is black.

And, im not a black chinese lol....
sounds retarted

My friends, which are also chinese likes Wade, Anthony etc... They DONT all like Yao..

I did not vote for Yao in the all-star game

I dont have any nationality bias at all....

With that said, I understand that Yi is the most blocked player in the NBA... LOL! But he does has an upside.... he is not the second BOKI...

SWAT wont become Amare... he does not have the work ethic... you can see how he plays... he loves the spotlight too much.. he does not really no all the plays... and he is goofy. I would trade him for Yi. Yi is a better scorer and bigger, but it really depends on how much they earn... If Yi is payed more than SWAT then forget it.

Do you live in China? We're you born there? I don't care about people of chinese descent living in the US because they're AMERICANS and therefore there nationality is in truth AMERICAN.

Once again I'm talking about national bias not racial bias.

Why does it matter if he is Japanese or Korean or ...?

How in the hell do we go from a salvaged discussion about different approaches to the Nets near term future to such idiotic drivel?

Uh... I DO LIVE IN CHINA...... I AM BORN IN CHINA... and I AM NOT ONE BIT AMERICAN.

Im from Hong Kong. I believe there is Nationality Bias... BUT NOT EVERYBODY IS BIASED... tht is like saying all chinese people know KUNG FU.

Realistically when 1 billion plus live in one country only 5% of the population would have to be biased to effect something like all star voting, or marketing value.

Well, since this thread seems doomed to continue into an examination of racial/ethnic/nationalist attitudes rather than GM strategies, I might as well add this.

I think Yi may actually be available at a cheaper price than his true value in part due to bias against him. The first thing that happened to him when he came over is everyone waited with bated breath for someone to dunk on him. And opposing players wanted to be that person with their highlight on Youtube. You can now find that highligh on Youtube. The same thing happened to Yao. These guys were expected to be man-handled. I think there was a biased factor to that. I think both Yao and Yi are tough enough to take these attitudes, adjust their games, and be all the more effective because of it. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I do think Milwaukee is a terrible place for him, though, both on the court and off. As Joey has pointed out, they already have Villanueva - why do they want another scoring PF who attacks from the outside in?

Well clearly you didnt real well my post or something. I clearly stated on every post that i am stricitly talking about non-american players. And i also said that most fans that think that way are overseas.
I even gave you examples with gasol, calderon and yao. And im not talking out of my ass GM, i have friends and family all over the globe and they seem to follow this pattern. Where have you been? How can i take you opinion seriously if you dont tell me where you are getting your opinion from? Have you been to china? spain?france?germany?italy? have you asked the people that lived there who would they rather have on their team? Youre telling me that a german person that lives in berlin will take amare over Dirk? someone that lives in torino will take dirk over Bargniani? or some in paris would take gasol over parker or diaw? Come on man be serious.

Dino i respect your opinion brother, but i am talking about fans overseas . Ive had said many times now... kinda getting tired of it really. Anyway How do you think yao made the allstar starting team every year in the west? Over TD , shaq? amare? Do you know who has set the record for most votes for the allstar game? wanna take a wild guess?. Its called patriotism and people look out for their own. And for the 100th time i am not talking about american fans that live in america, or chinese people that live in america. Im talking about fans OVERSEAS

I did not mean to offend you lurk, but you honestly think that Yi is worth sean williams a first round pick and agger? are you serious?

Because brother he proposed a trade very one sided in favor of the other team. Sean Williams, 1st round pick and Agger for YI of the bucks. So i either A assumed he was a bucks fan, and when he wasnt, i assumed he was asian. Apparently my mistake.
