Passing a law, outlawing semi automatic weapons will be disastrous. We have already told the predator that nobody has a full automatic weapon.
If we compound this error and tell them, nobody has a semiautomatic rifles, you tell the predator what no one wants them to know.
That you are not very well armed, easy to over whelm. Simply informing the predator, you are easy prey.
We have told them this about schools, very clearly. My goodness we do not need to do this everywhere.
You can get a picture of what it would do, just looking at the way it is.
Almost no crime against people cruising in boats in the US. Not really all that many are armed but some are. Those that intend to go to foreign ports probably are not. Since that would violate gun law where they intend to go. But still the threat of being armed is enough to prevent attacks in the US.
Mexico is another story entirely. Becoming worse with time as they no longer permit weapon on board, not even a single round of ammunition.
During my last cruise to Mexico, we went fully armed legally as most boater did. Almost no trouble in those days.
Caribbean Islands vary, with the amount of crime boaters are subject to. Stay the hell away from Trinidad! You are damn near sure to be attacked.
British Islands and former British Islands are the best but not nearly as safe as in US waters.
We have sent the same signals to the predators about our schools, gun free Killing Zones. No Worries! Fulfill your fantasies unimpeded.
