Take-Two reveals Boston Celtic Kevin Garnett as celeb spokesman for hoops game as NBA Finals get underway.

With the Boston Celtics facing the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals tonight, 2K Sports announced just prior to tip-off that one of the sport's biggest stars would grace the cover of NBA 2K9 this fall.

Celtics power forward Kevin Garnett will front copies of the latest hoops sim from Visual Concepts and offer his input to the development team as it implements unspecified new features and upgrades to the long-running series. As with last year's edition, the game will appear on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360.

An 11-time All-Star and 2008 Defensive Player of the Year, Garnett is one of Boston's "Big Three" along with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. His nearly $24 million salary made him the highest paid player in the league this year, but a championship earned against the Celtic's biggest rival would go a long way to justifying every penny of it.</div>

Yea, Boston gets crammed down our throats And the Yankees get shoved down baseball fan's throats. And the Maple Leafs get shoved down hockey fan's throats. Historic teams gets way too much coverage and hype. If you haven't come to terms with that yet, I don't know what to say.

Right now, we have media people lining up to suck off both teams. I don't see the point in complaining solely about one.

Because I'm a basketball fan, and the media is on Boston's dick more than any other team the past ~5 years? This is after how many years of practically ignoring Boston...and after plenty of teams have won 60+ games. So it's not like they've been doing anything all that special.

Kobe had his spectacular performances, I'm not denying that. But that was the exception more than the norm. He was surrounded with crap and that team was boring to watch, more often than not.

I'm going to go whine about it and hate on the Celtics in as many threads as possible now. How dare they shove the team that has won the most games down our throats when there are so many teams out there like Milwaukee and Sacramento that deserve the bulk of the media attention. I'm so sick of this bullshit that we've had to deal with for this one entire year. A full boycott of all national media outlets is necessary at this point. It's time for them to take their focus off of the Celtics and direct it towards another team that is more relevant at this current time, like Orlando and Minnesota.

Ha, Ben Wallace. That's a good one. I got sick of seeing AI all over year after year. Chris Paul is the only one out of the 2k series I liked

I do like the Live lineup, though. My favs were Toine, Kidd, Carter, Tmac and Gil.
