Well Mark Jackson couldn't figure it out. Kerr made some key changes to take that group from good to great like the small ball unit that absolutely blasted teams to close games.
He was better than Mark Jackson, which I think might not be that high a bar to cross. Speaking of which, how is Mark Jackson a candidate for Milwaukee?
I would at least hire one of these guys to sit down and watch game tape of every Portland game and come up with some conclusions on things to do differently and then talk with Billups.
Are we talking about Stotts or Billups? They hired some consultant to do that for Stotts. They let him go after just a few weeks. I'm guessing the coaching staff didn't want to hear about how bad the defense was and how ISO oriented the offense was.
If there is a max exodus in Philly and we get the first pick, maybe we acquire Embiid and probably move Ant to a third team and Nurk to the Sixers along with Wemby. That puts us with Dame, Embiid, Grant, Sharpe and a hole at the other forward spot that we would try to fill with our draft assets and TPE or the TPMLE. I don't see the Sixers trading the reigning MVP but if they did Wemby would go a long way towards it. I think they would stick with Joel, trade Harden in a S&T for someone they see as more complementary to Embiid and Maxey.. and go forward from there with or without Dox.Yep.

Yeah if we are giving them the next LeBron (meaning guy who changes the entire game) along with Nurk and whatever a third team returns for Ant we should get more back than just Embiid even if he's the reigning MVP. I don't know if I'd actually want tucker but the return of Wemby, Ant and Nurk might be more than even the MVP.We should try to get Tucker too.
So from reading this thread you would think Billups was on the hot seat?
I am not reading that anywhere else? Chauncey Billups is the Blazers coach and that isn’t changing is it?
I think I would also. He's getting paid anyway. Maybe he was the problem but it sure seems like he was the fall guy in that situation.I think it would be ideal from a Portland standpoint if Monty took the year off. Firing Chauncey right now might not sit well with the players since he has essentially had one hand tied behind his back while he was forced to tank at the end of both seasons. Give him one more year. (or at least to the all-star break)
Sources tell me Monty Williams is expected to take time to himself after his shocking ouster from Phoenix, which The Athletic first reported Saturday evening. But his services will have significant interest.

Thats what happens in today's NBA when you depend on the 3 ball a lot and aren't very talented. It's not the coaches.Adjustments are adjustments, or lack there of. How many double digit leads did we blow this year….16? 17? THAT is on coaching
While I generally think the never-ending coaching debate is silly as it's mostly about the talent, Kerr is the type of quality person/smart guy I'd love to lead the Blazers. Living in the Bay Area, I hear him on local sports talk regularly and think he's about as good as it gets. Local reports on his predecessor Jackson's firing relayed that he was extremely religious leading long daily prayer groups which everyone was expected to attend, and that of course not every W's player was into that.Well Mark Jackson couldn't figure it out. Kerr made some key changes to take that group from good to great like the small ball unit that absolutely blasted teams to close games.
Ok then, Chauncey is a great in game coachThats what happens in today's NBA when you depend on the 3 ball a lot and aren't very talented. It's not the coaches.

you sir, have absolutely & completely failed at understanding/characterizing what I've written in this and prior posts. So sorry, I wish you better luck next timeOk then, Chauncey is a great in game coach
Seems you just like arguing? I just wanna get through another day. We are on completely different timelinesyou sir, have absolutely & completely failed at understanding/characterizing what I've written in this and prior posts. So sorry, I wish you better luck next time

Like arguing? Not really. I made my point about generally not placing that much value on coaching (it's mostly the talent who win/lose) which you mangled to mean that I think Chauncey is a great game day coach. Intentional or not, it seems you are the one going out of their way to have a dispute.Seems you just like arguing? I just wanna get through another day. We are on completely different timelines
As i was sayin... Re: docForegone conclusion
Another one bites the dust...

Yeah, you're right. Seems like forever ago he broke Ben Simmons .Seemed like he was there longer than 3 years. Maybe that says something about his tenure here.
