I knew it.
Roy is a beast. Versatile guard. Not injury prone or a bad
locker room influence. A good leader.
</div>

Actually he does have injury concerns. Nonetheless a good pick

Yes. I guess we are going to have to start advertising it a little more so we can fill it up. I'll make a thread about it tomorrow.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (lukewarmplay @ Jul 28 2008, 02:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Ghoti, why wouldn't you consider taking Duncan or Pierce? Age-related?</div>

One of the reasons I wouldn't take Duncan besides age is his style of play. It would only mesh well with a hand full of players, the Spurs realized this and got the right guys around him and it would be much harder to do that in a GM draft.

I disagree. His first championship team and last championship team were almost completely different. On both teams he was the best player.

Im willing to part with my 5th and 6th or even 7th round picks to trade up for another second round pick.

PM me if anybody is interested

It hasn't even been 2 days...

If you don't like it, don't join. It's completely idiotic to complain about a SUMMER ACTIVITY taking too long.

Roy went further down than where I would have taken him.

#2) Minnesota Timberwolves - jerseycarter15 - Vince Carter
#7) Milwaukee Bucks - kk30 - Amare Stoudemire (probably would have taken him ahead of Roy)
#15) New Jersey Nets - ZAE - Chris Bosh
#16) Cleveland Cavaliers - dino33 - Steve Nash
#17) Oklahoma City - User01 - Monta Ellis
#18) Indiana Pacers - logik15 - Shawn Marion
#19) Phoenix Suns - syc514 - Elton Brand (probably would have taken him ahead of Roy)
#20) Dallas Mavericks - yinets1860 - Tracy McGrady

Those are the players I would have taken Roy before.

It was a coin flip between Williams and Nowitzki, but at the end of the day, Dirk is still an MVP caliber player and a big man who is easier to build a team around. The future won't be as bright, but the team will be better off in the short run.

I thought we were building a team to win a championship NOW... not for the future. That is why I picked Nash.. who is really old.

Greg Oden isn't a stretch for a guy who had surgery and still hasn't played a nba game yet Ghoti??

Yeah, ghoti, you sorta puzzled me on that one. Seems like a guy you'd want on your "caution" list, right? He hasn't even played in an NBA game yet. I don't see how he's a 1st rounder at all.

Damn you, ghoti.

I'd like to move down from this pick, so PM me with offers.

Greg Oden was the right pick at that spot, no question. This guy is going to be a franchise center. He's not going to win you a championship right now though.

Maybe we can work something out.

I think you blew it! I'm surprised because I know how much you like Deron.

I dont see oden making an impact right now to win a championship, he is def a pick for the future.. but not if we are going to vote for a championship with the teams we currently have

Just an fyi for people interested in my pick, I have to run out for about an hour, so you can PM now and I'll get back to you then.

I'm trying to win Championships. Good luck building your future dynasty around Shawn Marion or Andre Iguodala.

Can the Blazers win the championship? I think they can.

Yeah. I looooooove Deron. He's easily one of my 5 favorite players. I love Dirk too though. I don't think anyone in the league is as unfairly criticized as Nowitzki is. IMO, only Duncan is better at his position. If I was trying to build a team to contend in the near future and for the next decade, as you are, I definitely would've taken Williams. I'm trying to win now though, and Dirk is a better player to build around for that. I still believe Dirk is a player capable of leading a championship team.

The point of this draft is to build the best possible team. Would you trade the Blazers' roster for the Spurs' roster to win some stupid internet vote?

And, BTW, name any big man available at my pick who is better and more capable of dominating (or for that matter any player that's more capable of dominating) than Greg Oden right now.

(But do it silently, to yourself, because you can't post about undrafted players.)

Damn you ghoti, I was hoping to get Oden in the second round.

And for anyone doubting that pick because Oden has been hurt, please. He will heal and he will be a top center in the league. He's the second coming of David Robinson, and he has a lot more help at his age than David Robinson did in 1989.

The point of this draft is up to interpretation. I would rather have a championship team right now than in 3 or 4 years, even though my window may be short.

______ Foyle.

He actually was 7th on my list of available centers. I don't really expect much out of rookies coming off of a year of injury. Especially when guys at his position tend to take longer to be good.

That's a solid comparison IMO. When I saw him play, he very much reminded me of Robinson.
