NBA GMs vote Aldridge as the game's best PF (in a tie with Blake Griffin)

Does it really matter what RoyToy thinks? GM's think Aldridge is the best. They know what they're talking about. I don't agree that Griffin is only an open court player. He was REALLY good in the second half of last season. In the post and the midrange game. He also took charge of the team when Chris Paul was out. If you're asking me though (and no one is), I put Duncan and Dirk ahead of all of these guys.

So you think Davis will have a better year than Aldridge this season? Statistically of course.

Yes, I believe he will (Barring injury). Two reasons, Davis will be able to play PF instead of C with Asik so his defense will be even better as crazy as it sounds and my number one reason is Damian Lillard, he will get more touches than LA this season IMO.

I guess we will wait and see. This is definitely a thread "bump worthy" in mid and end of the season though.

You mean that poll where Aldridge was 3.6% points higher than Davis?

Then there's still this from the GM poll

Tied with KEVIN DURANT

The homers here can try and fight to fight this off, but Davis is at least on par with Aldridge right now, and there's no doubt Davis will be the better player going forward.

Sorry.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. This vote was for who is the best power forward in the NBA, not who would you build a franchise around. Davis is 8 years younger and bursting with upside. He's not the best today, but very likely will be soon and for a much longer time going forward.

Well I'm being told that the GM poll is the definitive answer to every question

Yet another strawman. Who exactly said that, provide a link or a quote, otherwise you're just making shit up in a futile effort to discredit those who disagree with you (big surprise there).

No, it's not the answer to every question, but it is the subject of this thread.

As far as watching other teams play, I watch every Blazers game and LeBron gAme (my hubby's fav player). That means I watch every team in the NBA at least 6 times in the reg season.

Nope, apparently GMs only know how to ranks PFs. Because they obviously don't know how to rank last-second shot takers.
The Blazers are just like a religion - pick the things you want to believe and discard the things you want to ignore.

Like Batum fans?

Find your own link. I know for a fact he's been debated as the best PF in the league on this forum for 2-3 years.

Pretty sure that 99% of this forum believed Kevin Love was the best Power Forward in the league last year and the year before.
There was a select group that saw what Aldridge could be and saw flashes.
But the media...
The former players... all believed Kevin Love was the best Power Forward.
Then came Blake Griffin..
Then Tim Duncan/Dirk.
Pretty sure that's how it went and not Aldridge.
Now today going into the 2014-2015 season Aldridge is the best Power Forward in the game TODAY.
Doesn't have the most potential but right now he's the best and anyone who says otherwise is delusional.
Or just trying to say "only homers believe this". No.

Now it's everyone except a select few that believes Aldridge is the best Power Forward in the game.
If AD was on the Blazers in the place of Aldridge. I highly doubt the Blazers even make the playoffs.
Let alone grab the 5th seed AND beat Houston to advance to the second round.
Go back and watch the playoffs again.
Tell me how would have AD faired against Asik?
Would AD have got Asik into foul trouble every game? Doubt it.
Would have AD allowed Jones to guard him? Pretty sure that's a yes.
Do not bring up the Spurs series either. AD would have played just as bad as Aldridge did. If not worse because Duncan wouldn't have had to shade every time Aldridge got it in the post.
See any Griffin vs Duncan playoff highlight.

Yeah, you've barely been around here, so you would have no idea. This forum finally came around to the idea (after I educated them) that Kevin Love pads his stats and isn't close to being the best PF in the NBA. So no, not 99%. Probably not even 50%

Yes you were the only one that pointed out Kevin Love pads his stats. Its not like half this forum has been calling out Loves amazing D of a quick contest of just raising his hands on a shooter then immediately turning around to get position on the rebound. Or the fact he lets his guy drive into the post then positions himself for a rebound if the guy misses. No one else noticed or pointed out any of this especially not when Love erroneously got an allstar spot over LMA in 2011.

I was the first

Sure you were. Ever the voice of reason. Until you pointed out what a poor defender Love is, the rest of us morons couldn't figure out why he kept getting overlooked in the DPOY voting and how in god's name such an amazing all around player could never seem to be able to lead his team to a winning record, let alone the playoffs.

What's next? Are you going to claim to be the first to notice Ricky Rubio can't shoot and Steve Nash is really old?

Nope. Lot's of Love love, sure, but lots of Love bashing to counter it around these parts. I'm in the latter camp. He's a dirty low-down stat padder.

Blake Griffin while trying to be LaMarcus last night with his 21 pt jump shot fest had 3 rebounds against our bench. I'd say LaMarcus is a solid lock at the #1 PF in the NBA

ignorant post. just because someone took awhile to join said forum doesn't mean they didn't read it before hand.
you're just upset because you have nothing to counter the point I brought up. so you did the only thing you can do... attack the join date of someone.
Standard forum post.

Edit - not going back through posting history to find threads. Continue to attack the join date because your argument has no rock to stand on.

As an older fan of the Blazers for years I didn't understand that homer meant optimistic fan, supportive fan. I get sick of those posters acting like it's a fucking character flaw. There's the glass half full folks, the glass half empty folks and the glass with a hole in the bottom folks. Whatever your interest in the franchise entails, find your own joy in it. Plenty of folks here post things I don't agree with but do it in a civil manner and talk about the team. Others talk about the fans. I prefer the team banter. Pretty elementary theory but that's my 2 cents.
by the way....Lamarcus IS the best power forward in the NBA. Everyone here knows Davis is going to be great and will only get better, but right now....LA is the man

SlyPokerDog is ignorant.

Now it's personal attacks instead of just going after the join date? How childish.
/done

Exactly why I left this forum for awhile, and exactly why it takes me forever to sign up for any forum.
