By posting that Freeland shouldn't have been called for a foul on Howard after a missed FT, I have been put into detention. All of my posts must be approved by moderators before they will be put on the board.

Which is a nice segway to this thread!

Either LMA or Lillard will have 2 fouls within the first 5 minutes of the game.

It's the old reliable. Want to even out a series? Get the best players in foul trouble. Probably both Dame and LA will get two quick ones.

Foul on Lopez.

Or how about Garcia walking around the key for 7 seconds, not calling a timeout, then getting a foul called. BEST CASE SCENARIO for that play should have been a jump ball. Or we could talk about Howard taking 6 steps before throwing up an over the back layup that garnered a foul. Seriously, I don't see how the refs can apologize for one call in this game.

Damn, shows what I know. I thought there was a lot more than one missed call in that game last night. I actually remember getting really upset about how crappy the refs were. Looks like I was wrong.

The NBA only issues 'apologies' for blown calls at the end of games (or in calls that results in player ejections, etc), right or wrong. I guess they realize that if they issued apologies for everything the officials got wrong their press release would be longer than War and Peace.

It's not going to be any easier for the Blazers in game 2, that's for sure. If guys get into foul trouble the bench needs to step up and earn their paychecks.

Classic NBA move....would not be surprised to see HOU get an even bigger advantage from the refs in G2 now..if they weren't already.

Refs missed call in G1
Did they issue a similar statement re the Howard travel or bullshit Lopez tech or bullshit fouling Lopez out or the times Howard clubbed Lopez in the chest and stomach?

Howard got a lot of calls that went against us in this game, he clearly charged several times and got to the line. If they're going to scrutinize games, they need to do it across the board, still a win is a win and this was some Scott Foster Karma!

Joey Crawford, Scott Foster, and Ken Mauer coming up.

Javy has a cushy job with ESPN now where they call on him to see if he agrees with the calls during the game. Funny thing is how vague he was the couple of times I saw him try to explain the call. Van Gundy was talking about not understanding the clear path rule, and they throw it to Javy just to say how confusing the new clear path rule is (and he is supposed to be the expert). What worked with the former ref in the NFL is not working so well with Javy.

Also, we just had Foster in game 1, so I doubt he will be around for game 2.

I can't remember any games where J.Crawford screwed up a Blazer game but I do remember Mauer a few years back giving Dallas the win against the Blazers with a ton on non-calls in the Mavericks favor.

Dear NBA,

Since you seem justifiably concerned that the games are officiated accurately, can you also please review every one of Dwight Howard's "blocked" shots and award the Blazers 6 points for the three that were obviously goal tending. Also, please review the play where Dwight Howard traveled BEFORE Robin Lopez "fouled" him and was disqualified for receiving his 6th personal foul.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Fan

P.S. Go fuck yourselves.

“After video review by the league office, we have determined that the officials were incorrect in assessing a foul to the Rockets’ Dwight Howard with 10.8 seconds remaining in overtime. The foul should have been called on the Blazers’ Joel Freeland and Howard should have been awarded two free throws.” - NBA

"Dear NBA,
Thank you for correcting the call. We agree with you that Dwight Howard should not have fouled out with 10.8 seconds remaining in overtime. After reviewing the tape it is very clear that he should have fouled out at the 25 minute mark (insert video), the 32 minute mark (insert video), the 37 minute mark (insert video), or the 46 minute mark (insert video). Thank you for your steadfast search for the fairness such as including the encouragement of the referees to hug the Rockets coach in the middle of the game. Sincerely, Paul Allen

p.s. If we get more of this bullshit in game 2 I going to sue the shit out of this fucking Chinese mafia of a league."

I'd love to see the above response...

The officiating in the playoffs has been absolutely horrendous. I've watched 4 games thus far, and I thought the officiating in three of the games was pretty brutal.

Email the league office: http://www.nba.com/email_us/contact_us.html

I just sent them one pointing out the absurdity of an 'official statement' about ONE bad call on Dwight Howard and asked them to acknowledge the several horrific calls that went against the Blazers. I also pointed out that it will effect the fairness of refereeing in future games in this series.

I did not point out that his last name should be Silverstern and that I thought he'd do anything for a large Chinese audience.

Green font.

Yeah, I know. Come on, Sly - I don't think that could have been more apparent in your post.

I was just commenting about how horrendous the officiating has been in all of the games, not just the Blazers' game.

You don't remember shit like this?:

It wouldn't be if the NBA didn't have a dawg on the fight.

In the end you have to have a lil luck to advance and Portland received some lard night. Be interesting to see where the series goes from here.

The officiating is a concern

You all can point to all the "missed calls" you want--the NBA made a point to point out the only clear "game-changing" play. I mean come on--face-guarding on a box out? Egregious.

The only "game changing" play? lol

You don't think Lopez fouling out was game changing?

Good of the NBA to recognize the one missed call the refs made all game.

Yeah, my thoughts as well. They should've retracted his 6th foul but given him a retroactive technical for punching Robin in the gut. Big fine. Also fine Harden for flopping and kicking his leg out.

They could also apologize for not calling a foul on Matthews when he shoved Harden out to the 3 point line before his final shot in regulation. If they would have made the obvious call there, there would have been no overtime.

My comment to the NBA:
Hello NBA and TNT, and thanks for a great broadcast of the Blazer-Rockets game last night. I do like the the NBA is admitting mistakes by referees at the end of the game, these admissions speak highly to the integrity of the league. There were many tough calls in this game. I'd like to additionally hear the league release corrections on calls earlier in the game. Highlighting only the single last missed call when there were multiple errors can portray a misleading picture of how the game should've been officiated. As example Howards strike to Robin's abdominal region that resulted in a Robin foul. Thanks.

What about the foul that gave Harden free throws when he kicked his leg out to side of his body beyond his shoulders? That is an illegal move and a point of emphasis by the NBA but they incorrectly called a foul on Wes.

Tons of missed calls both ways last night. One of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. If either teams fans thinks the calls were only for one side they are very biased.
