Matt Damon has lived in Italy for a long time anyway. He can afford to live everywhere. Trump only has power of people if they let him. I'm not leavin' my land because of Washington DC and the snake oil salesmen. There just was not one good candidate this lose-lose election year..it's sad but life goes on.

Gary Johnson

Riding my bike yesterday through the springwater trail it was pretty ironic to see no trespassing signs dotting the homeless camps. One even had a warning security camera sign!

I just want to understand this straight. The homeless people had signs up telling others not to trespass on their camp???

Consider the source of this link, just the first one that popped up on google but who knows....

I think I will because I am dissatisfied with the two party bullshit that wastes my tax dollars and spends more time explaining what they've done than doing something...it's time for gov't to get a no vote across the board or we've all already lost anyway.

So I'm guessing your lawn is filled with homeless people...excercising their squatting rights for the good of the country and transgenders are now free to use your lawn to relieve themselves?

Is your lawn public? I also think homelessness is a bigger problem than trans identity issues. Homeless people aren't friends with the NBA. LBGQT is because they have money. It's all silly in this regard.

I've got no objection to people voting for Johnson if they think he's the best candidate for the job. If you like what he's selling, and think he can be a good president, then by all means, vote for him.

I'm not sure voting for someone you don't think is the best candidate in order to 'send a message' is a good strategy, though. Bit like burning down your house to make a point to your spouse.

Republican voters already burnt down their house this year. Are they better off now?

Should the entire country follow suit?

That's a reasonable opinion. Fortunately, it's not either/or and addressing one important issue is beneficial even if it doesn't address a potentially larger issue.

It's nice to see society evolve from stereotyping Jews hording gold to now it's LBGQT people.

That's a low blow and nothing at all what was implied.

You are right to say all of this. I don't mean to say it's not beneficial. I think from the point-of-view of someone who struggles to find a place to sleep at night, this stand by the NBA could seem self-serving more than anything. I think in a cynical form that it's laughable.

Sorry, just poking a little fun at what you posted.

I have seen a lot of posts in this thread from people who don't really understand what the law in NC is about and why the NBA pulled the all star game out. Your post about LBGQT having money is why the NBA did that was one of the more original theories.

The actual issue is very simple. Shorn of all verbiage, North Carolina in a rapid-fire move passed a law that businesses must be allowed to discriminate in hiring, firing, promotion based on sexual orientation and gender identity. They added in a prohibition prohibiting raising minimum wage to appeal to big business campaign funders. Then they threw in an unenforceable "bathroom" provision in order to say this is not about civil rights or standard of living, they are just trying to protect the safety and privacy of cis-gender girls and women against the (nonexistent) threat of being assaulted by transwomen or men pretending to be trans in the ladies' room.

They acted against protests by activists, the universities, the business community and many faith leaders. They lost millions as entertainers and conventions went elsewhere. The NBA among others urged a repeal or "fix". So the state announced a "fix": the discrimination provision would stand, but transgender people could use the restroom of their true gender provided they displayed a medical certificate attesting that they are post-surgical. Not only a total invasion of privacy, but again unenforceable. To whom would they be required to show this certification? Apparently, to anyone who demanded it. But how do you know if the person in the next stall is transgender? You don't.

So the NBA did what numerous other businesses did. They have a non-discrimination clause that would be violated by holding the ASG in North Carolina. They left.

Unfortunately when anything involves gay people, the usual suspects, with zero knowledge and zero interest in learning, parade their particular prejudice as what "nature" or their god wants. Considering the way nature behaves, it would be laughable were it not the basis for so much bigotry.

The words homosexual, bisexual, transgender are of recent vintage but the behavior is older than humanity. What we now call homosexuality, bisexuality, and transgender has existed in every known human society, past and present, even the most repressive. Even when faced with burning at the stake. Today still, gay, lesbian, bi and transpeople are tortured, murdered, imprisoned, raped - and while they can be terrorized into the closet, not one person has been shown to have "turned straight".

What we call homosexuality, bisexuality, and transgender exist in every animal species studied, although prevalence varies between species and between genders in a species. Among black swans, por ejemplo, sexual contact between males is very common but between females quite rare. Black swans may seem pretty removed from us. But bonobos share 98% of our DNA. About 2/3 of the males and virtually all females are what we would call in humans bisexual. Males orally copulate one another, females rub their clitorises together, adults caress juveniles' genitals. They reproduce, of course, but also use sex for celebration, for example, if they find a very rich food source before eating everyone in the group has sex with each other. They use sex for introduction; when two groups of bonobos encounter each other, they all have group sex. Sometimes an individual, usually young female, leaves one group to join another. She introduces herself by having sex with everyone in her new group. This is not gang rape, the female initiates and clearly by facial expression, verbalization and body language is enjoying herself. They use sex to defuse conflict; sometimes young adolescent males in excess of testosterone get into squabbles, which are broken up by mature females. The would-be combatants then make up by caressing and licking each others' penises. I always thought that would be a good way to settle scraps in NBA games. (OK, LeBron and Draymond, center court...) If someone were to tell them their behavior was not "natural" because it was not "injection of a penis into a vagina for the purpose of reproduction", no doubt they'd reply, "Cousin, you're seriously crazy!"

Our bodies are "intended" (insofar as evolution "intends" anything) for survival and reproduction. Thanks to our minds, we use our bodies for a lot more than that. Our bodies weren't "intended" for sports, they weren't "intended" for art...

Of course they were.

I don't think there is a doubt about it when you truly consider how marginal the trans position is in comparison to the whole of society. As I related other issues that demographically deal with basic rights and that affect far more people , I'm saddened to say that money is the prime area where they differentiate as demographics. It's really not so far-fetched. Also, I would say that although the law dealt with far more than the trans-bathroom issue, I think it's fair to say that the NBA and media marketed this as a trans issue.

You guys really think NC is racist because they don't want penises in the same bathroom as little girls? Seriously?

That is all this is about. Not sex, orientation or race. Maybe I've been away from Portland too long, but I really don't want boys in the same showers as my girls either.
I've never seen anybody checking for penises outside of girls bathrooms before. Though I've never been to NC...

Speaking of turned straight. Sometimes i really wish i could turn gay cause women are so fucking annoying. I much prefer tbe company of men, i just have zero interest in them sexually and love ass and titties. Life is hard being straight in todays society of psycho women.

Loving ass is part of the gay man application, I believe. Also, men have breasts as well. What they don't have are vaginas, which you don't seem to care about. It sounds to me like you may be heterosexualy challenged. Which is what you want, so go for it

Female ass looks diff though And i have moobs, dont do anything for me, even when jacking it. The thought of sucking a dick doesnt seem appetizing to me. Sure, i like to pound a good gina but looking at one isnt as great as a nice ass or a great set of tits. (No hetero)

The court decision 3Rainiac referenced is about their voter suppression law, which courts ruled was racially biased. It was; the law would have been prohibited before the Supreme Court overturned the voting rights act.

However, it was stated on this board that if someone objects to so-called men in restroom with little girls they are called racist. That did not happen.

So two separate but equally important (thank you Law & Order) issues.
