Divisions in basketball are bunk anyway. This isn't football, you get more than one game in the playoffs thus making HCA less important.

IMHO I prefer being road first because all you have to do is steal one road game and hold home court for the series and you're on to the next round.

How come the owners decide things? Why aren't all votes put to the fans or the media?

no point in having divisions at all anymore. Just east and west.

So, this is the "when Doc Rivers and Greg Popovich whine" modification to the rules?

As Denny says, there's no reason for the division breakdowns anymore. Just go by conference. For that matter, just make the schedules as even as possible and eliminate conferences while we're at it. The best 16 teams get into the playoffs seeded by record.

They should merge the bottom 14 teams and call them the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

Other than an occasional 4-5 matchup like ours with Memphis, has the old rule affected anything? It's hard to imagine a 2-7 or even a 3-6 being flipped by division standings. And since Memphis' bracket didn't change regardless of which side of the 4-5 they fall on, and they had home court despite being the #5, I don't quite see what all the fuss is about.

And how many 5 thru 8 seeds have won the championship? Do you prefer those odds?

The fuss is that the Clippers had to play the Spurs instead of the "easier" Blazers in the playoffs last season.

Blazers were 4th seed. San Antonio and Memphis had better records and tied for 5th seed.

You should lead by example! Tell us what things you own and we'll vote on what you should do with them.

So now we can win our division and not make the playoffs. We just have to hope the rest of the teams in our division suck just a little bit more than we do. Hell, we could win the division and win the lottery! Now that would be an awesome banner to hang from the rafters.

They need to expand then revamp the cap rules and playoff system. Give us a 40 team league with 24 in the playoffs, 4 five team divisions per conference and division winner get byes. Hell put 5 new teams overseas and 5 in the states.

Well, we would have been 6th seed, which would have changed the 3-6 bracket along with the 4-5 bracket.

I'v heard way to many people talk about this as the "Blazer rule", like we were the first team to benefit from it. Its happened in the past and even worse then what happened this year. In 06 the Nuggets should have been an 8th seed but were a 3rd seed and I dont' remember anywhere near the discussion or outrage that was accompanied by us winning the NW division last year.

If seeded by record, we would've been 6th seed last year. Clippers would've played us. Instead of the Spurs. That is why Doc Rivers cried.

I like the way you're thinking. Would be nice to have teams in Seattle and Vancouver again,

Yep. That year, the division winner was guaranteed a top 3 seed. The 6th seeded Clippers got HCA in first round. The 5th seeded Grizzlies got Dallas with no HCA and wound up getting swept. Clippers made it to 2nd round.

Seems like there are not enough "rivalries" already. This diminishes them even further. Agreed about this being the result of a couple of coaches whining.

Seattle, St. Louis, Kansas City/Omaha, Louisville and Virginia Beach would be my 5 in the states. Istanbul, Paris, London, Rome and Barcelona would be my overseas teams.

Eight five-team divisions, play the other four teams in your own division three times (12 total), and the other 35 teams twice (70 total). Each division winner gets a bye. First Round is 5 or 7 games.
Each Conference's Playoffs
1 vs 8/9
4 vs 5/12
3 vs 6/11
2 vs 7/10

There's enough basketball talent out there. Itd sure be fun

Agreed. If Canzano could just make all the decisions, we'd be in a much happier place.

Kazakhstan, Andorra, Bali, and Vatican City would be my choices. And here at home, Pierre, Key West, Baton Rouge, and Cheyenne.

Oh, and the lowest scoring player in each playoff game gets put to death.

I don't understand why they can't just abolish these stupid conferences?! why do we need a separate playoff for each geographical region? best 16 records should enter the playoffs and it should have been done 15 years ago!

And also, the shot clock should reset to 14 instead of 24 after an offensive rebound.

Makes sense. Best teams should get best seeds. Not be penalized for another team having a weak ass division.

Yeah it hilarious that this rule changes is based around the Blazers being villians for benefiting ( if you call getting destroyed by the grizzlies benefiting) from a rule that pushed us up a couple seeds.

Why don't they just do it like the NFL if they are gonna mess shit up anyway and have conferences/ divisions with teams from both the west and east.
