NEW YORK (AP)—The NBA will release its opening week and Christmas Day schedules during an hourlong TV special Tuesday.

NBATV officials said Friday their network will host a program at 7 p.m. EDT, at which time it will unveil the slate of games for “Tip-off ’10,” plus the Christmas and Martin Luther King Jr. holidays.

The full NBA schedule will be released on Aug. 10. This is the first time the league has released portions of it early.

The reason is likely because of the anticipation for the debut and marquee games involving Miami’s new trio of LeBron James(notes), Dwyane Wade(notes) and Chris Bosh(notes).

Heard from my boy yesterday he didn't think we would play on XMAS again this season. We have played 3 straight years and he thought the league might not be pumping us up as the up and coming squad this time because of our history of injuries.

My money: Heat/Boston, Lakers/Denver, OKC/NOH

Dude..... those are very random matchups. OKC vs NOLA?

Heat/LA....... ORL/Bos........ OKC vs PDX ........is more like it FAMS!

I'd guess MIA/ORL, LAL/OKC, and BOS/CHI

Heat/Boston - Red/Green uniforms, eastern conference matchup of the Old Guard versus the New Hotness.
Lakers/Denver - Lakers versus the only other Western Conference team that TV thinks is still good.
OKC/NOH - Something for the South to watch.

Or they know we crush our opponents on Christmas, and are conspiring against us! :ohno:

Lakers vs. Celtics in Boston
Heat vs. Cavs in Cleavland
Blazers vs. Thunder in Portland (ESPN night game)

the thing about Portland on Christmas games is the crowd gets into it...santa costumes, etc.

Wow, an hour-long show to announce the schedule? Or part of the schedule anyway? That's not exactly must-see tv, in my book.

Heat-Cavs in Cleveland would be pretty epic. What better way to celebrate the Christmas spirit than seeing Cavs fans go apes*it all over LeBron and do what Cleveland fans do. I hope that happens.

MY INSIDE SOURCES (TEH TWITZ) says Bulls @ Knicks? Those god-awful green knicks jerseys? bleh.

Followed by a double-feature of War of the Roses and Throw Mama From The Train... Merry fucking Christmas.

We've had 3 straight years of home games at that. If I remember correctly Seattle, Dallas, Denver. I think they'll stick with recent tradition and have us play a X-mas day game against LAL.

What? The summer of free agency didn't turn Minnesota and the GS Warriors into powerhouses worthy of Christmas day coverage?

I'm so glad they told us when the big Kings/Hawks game is. I just got my tickets!!
