I think Brainiac was suggesting LeBron, Wade, and Melo as the next Big 3.

Is Wade even good enough to justify being part of a big three at this point in his career? I think the new "big three" would be LBJ, Melo, and Bosh.

Max contract to STAY. Says nothing about taking less to go to a better team :)

The cap is projected at 63 I think. LBJ, Wade and Bosh at 15 mil is 45 mil and Melo at another 15 mil is 60. I just dont see it.

Sources: As James plans for max deal, Bosh, Wade and Haslem will opt-out of deals with hopes of staying together. sports.yahoo.com/news/dwyane-wa…

well, lebron going after a max scuttles any of that melo nonsense i would think

Btw id like to add that I wouldn't be bummed if lebron went back to Miami. Now if he leaves and Portland doesn't even make a run at him....

i was actually suggesting they might go after a big 4 of all dem boiz, sign another guy or 2 for 2-3MM each, and fill in the roster with vet min guys

stupid idea but hey, they have a little treehouse club going or someshit, so who knows

How weird would it be to see these three LBJ, Wade and Bosh all opt out and go there own separate ways living Miami with nothing but a lot of money?

On that note. How many of you would trade Nic Batum for Dwayne Wade?

I'm surprised Wade is walking away from 41 million.

Don't think he will get that back.

I don't quite get it, but if he's comfortable giving $$ back to Riley (as Udonis Haslem did), then that's his right.

But he probably can't sign a 5yr deal, since he'll be an over-36 year for the fifth year, and that salary will, in effect, raise his cap hit of his "normal" 1st year by ~25%. (Coon CBA #57). If he was to sign a deal starting at, say, the 13.75M that they'd need for Melo to join up, then he could only get about 4/61. As he's already guaranteed 2/41.8M, he's basically betting that he'd earn no more than about 10m/yr over the last 2 years of any future deal.

which is very likely, wade could be an mle guy or less in 2 years

Haslem opting out of $4.6 million is ridiculous, he is a vet minimum guy at this point. Haslem is probably going to take a front office job where he gets all of the $4+million he gave up in salary plus some.

The Heat are making a sham of the salary cap and competitive balance of the league. Other teams have to eat their bad contracts but the "mafia" Heat just get the players to accept money in other areas and use the cap savings to improve the team. I hope Silver forfeits Heat draft picks and bans Heat players from colluding similar to the sanctions levied against Minnesota for the Joe Smith fiasco years ago.

I get the same feeling from the Heat. One thing when players go there for the minimum or less money just to play with them, an entirely different thing if players are opting out thinking they will get recompensed by the Heat a different way.

Teams are constantly doing backdoor deals, if you don't think every team is trying to do it and a lot do then you need to take a closer look at things. Heck even the Spurs, who everyone is talking about them being the poster child of success, did the same thing with Richard Jefferson where he opted out of 16m and let the Spurs get out of the luxury tax by then offering him 4y 35m or something along those lines.

Yah we all know Riley is pulling the strings but it is difficult to prove. Therefore the heat get a pass and more rings if its true.

This is a move to create room for Melo or Lowry.

I loathe today's "superstars"

If I am Miami I bring in Lowry, bring in Stephenson, resign Lebron, resign Bosh and offer Wade a role as a bench player ala Ray Allen.

Do not hold your breath waiting for justice. Remember Anthony Carter's agent forgetting to opt in and it allowing the Heat to be able to sign Lamar Odom?

I still don't see LeBron wanting the dogfight the West provides. He can cruise to the finals in the East

That would be awesome

The Suns do seem like a viable destination. A core of Bledsoe, Dragic, Lebron and Carmelo would be pretty scary. Add in Ennis, Plumlee, Warren and 3 first round picks next year and the Suns have a lot of flexibility.

An article I just read on this stated in order to sign Melo and LeBron the Suns will have to give up Dragic, Plumlee and several players plus picks to make this happen. A chunk of starters will not be back if they sign both to max deals
