I'd be very disappointed if Mo was brought back. I think Jameer, Shaun Livingston or Ramon Sessions would all be better options and cost the same, if not less.

After being waived, sources say that Jameer Nelson wants to join a contender. At this point in his career, winning is most important to him.

Okc or Miami. Book it

Some possible destinations for Jameer Nelson: Miami (needs a PG), Detroit (reunion with Stan Van Gundy), Chicago (needs a reserve PG), etc.

Blazers signed Mo late and on the cheap last year . . . makes me wonder if there was a little secret handshake, opt out and we will have the full MLE to play with next summer and take care of you then.
That has been my expectation.

I like how Kennedy mentions he wants to go to a contender then 5 minutes later lists Detroit as an option.

He costs us part of the mle. Resigning Mo doesnt necessarily cost us the mle or bae.

And the fact everyone on the team loves the guy. He will be back

I'd like to see offensive punch at the wing. Matthews is willing to be a sub. Batum would not be happy. So the 2 is where I'd spend the limited money.

Trouble is, we got McCollum, Barton, Crabbe...more dinky half-talents than you can shake a stick at. Olshey keeps making half-assed efforts at improving the 2. If he cleared the debris he'd have room for one solid star there.

Barton and Crabbe were 2nd round picks. On a 14-15 man roster they really are not an issue. 2nd rounders can easily be released.

We will see about McCollum. I don't remember your track record as being stellar when it comes to talent evaluation. I think his odds just improved.

Could we resign Mo and still have the MLE?

No, but we could use the MLE and resign Mo. ;)

I'm pretty sure that is wrong and that 42N8BOUNCE is correct.

Yes. Using the non-bird exception, we can re-sign Mo to 120% of his previous salary without using the MLE or BAE.
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q25

His previous salary was $$2,771,340, so we could pay him up to $3,325,608.

Since I'm not a huge Mo fan, another option is to use this as a S&T for other teams that are over the cap, but under the tax level.

Resign Mo Williams using his "Non Bird Rights"
Sign Vince Carter or Sabo Sefalosha with the BAE
Channing Fry or Spencer Hawes with the MLE

Rain threes!

the thing is mo wants a multi year deal. I don't see us giving him that. another 1 year deal? sure, but 3 years?

Well, the way I understand it; Mo can be signed and then they will still have the two exceptions to work with. If they don't sign Mo, they will have to find a replacement with one of those exceptions. so it's kind of a tough decision.

I think they might if the number is reasonable. He's not THAT old. If it was something like $9 million over three years, I think that could be worth bringing Mo back.

I can not find one piece of NBA off season banter including Portland. What is going on?

Valentino freakin Rossi.

Saw him race live down at Leguna Seca.

Any interest in Evan Turner in the forum?

For the veteran minimum I'd pass.

He was beyond horrific on Indy. Along with Bynum turned the team into a selfish collection of infighting assholes. He doesn't play defense and likes to dominate the ball. I'd expect him to be on the Knicks if Dolan can get his way.
