THE VERDICT
Despite all the automotive eye candy and action movie elements, Need for Speed never provides the viewer with a sense of escape or abandon. It doesn't make you want to buy the game or go racing out of the cinema parking lot lost in some lead foot fantasy. It makes you want to buy a Volvo and drive 35mph.
Need for Speed on Movies
5.9=MEDIOCRE
+Aaron Paul & Michael Keaton do what they can.
+Some outrageous car stunts, but ...
– ... they don't entertain so much as they do horrify. Too realistic to be fun.
– Bad script marked by thin characterizations, lame humor & lack of logic.
– Ineffective supporting cast.
