Zombie Neil Deserves Respect

doubt it heavy. One, I don’t think they have that sort of relationship and two Stotts isn’t gonna lose games on purpose when he knows he’s getting fired after the season. What’s in it for him?
Unless Olshey says; "Look, you help me out here and I will keep you on; I'll take all the heat."

Now that both are gone, this is an interesting reread. Some of my favorites include:

  • "he put together an amazing team around Dame and CJ"
  • "I still think Olshey is a bad GM; too many ego-driven decisions and too much time drafting off of Dame's greatness"
  • "Neil did a bang up job upgrading our defense across the board...what's not to like?"
  • "I honestly think Jones will quickly win over the naysayers with his high energy game, passion (wanting the guard the other team's best player), and skill."
  • "If Neil is a bad GM I don't know what a good one looks like."
  • "Right now I think Olshey is being OVER respected"
  • "Neil is not destined to stay here to many more years, he will end up in one of the larger higher profile markets."
  • "This roster is very talented."

I also like “Roco’s great for us.” Ahh we had such hope back then.

No doubt... really wanted that one to work out... he was ok last year, but not worth two 1st round picks. This year, even worse.

Of all his moves, I liked Covington best, easily. But I will bet good money that when it emerges in a couple of years that a very good player was taken on or after where we pick in 20 and 21, we'll be moaning about this trade.
Well whaddya know

Very glad to notice this is the first time I appear in this thread...

The more impressive ones are those who stood up against the people saying we were one of the most talented, deepest teams in the league, and that Derrick Jones was a great deal.

Much easier to come in after all the information and crap on it!

So, I should contact the city and tell them not to erect that statue in my honor? ;)

Oh, thanks; I guess I usually do take the cautious approach.
Well except I was very opinionated about melo right from the start. And i think I have been very clear what I think about CJ for a few years already.

"Neil deserves respect"......

Yeah, Olshey deserves a ton of credit because he put together an amazing team around Dame and CJ. He prioritized defense which was astonishing. I assume him and Stotts talked about the guys we got so I imagine that there will be more player and ball movement on offense. Obviously RoCo is great for us, we know Enes can play with our guys and I really like DJJ, so athletic, aggressive, can put the ball on the floor and has a high BBIQ on both ends. Keeping Hood and Melo seems smart too. I give him credit for all of that. I'm hoping all of this points towards him wanting real change and that something will wake him up and get the best value for CJ possible but these moves are about as good as he could do keeping Dame and CJ together.
Holy shit this one didn't age well. I put in bold what I now consider the most laughable part. I don't harbor any ill will towards Stotts but I'm glad he's gone. Fuck Olshey! Also fuck me for buying what that sleazy bastard was selling.

People are starting to see the light!

Stotts took the roster as far as it could go. It was time for a change, better for all parties. Unfortunately, the roster was not, and cannot be upgraded to the level needed. Neil gave WAAAY to much money away to CJ and made shitty draft picks. It's a horrible contract and nobody wants it.
