Neil is not done

He's not gonna do anything substantial. We have $7M in cap left. We won't have cap space for years..

That's not true at all. Last year we had Aminu, Harkless, Crabbe and Hendo. We'll now lose at minimum two of those guys and Turner is not a significant upgrade compared to what those guys gave us last year. And btw, yes they exceeded expectations last year, but if Chris Paul and Blake don't get injured we never play Golden State in the first place. And our health will almost certainly not be as good as it was last year. To improve we needed to add an impact player, that hasn't happened yet.
Turner's season before we signed him was better than either of their's season before we signed them, right?

Given the insane prices of this round of free agency, we wouldn't even get a Cliff Alexander for $7M. Better to absorb a player from a team trying to free space.

They're both several years younger and made less than half of what he's making. And yes, they've played better, so why bring in a guy to replace them at twice the cost?

Who says he's replacing them?

Think of Turner like Golden State's Shaun Livingston plus a bit of Iggy. Doesn't replace their Barnes + Draymond.

It's also the case that both Damian and CJ played too many minutes last year because they were our only competent ball-handlers. Does it make you feel better if the players Turner is replacing are:
All Gerald Henderson's minutes
All Noah Vonleh's minutes (Aminu slides over)
All Tim Frazier's minutes
A couple of minutes from Dame and CJ so they can play fewer minutes and harder on D.

?

Denny, just to let you know, you accidently put the word "not" in the title of this thread

We can potentially have around 23mil if we renounce and cut some people. Lot of time to go, we are only in the 2nd quarter of free agency.
Yeah but using capspace to sign Turner instead of resign Leonard and Harkless would be a major downgrade.

Go get millsap.
This is the only hope I have left for this offseason. They're have to resign Horford as their PF.

But is Aminu, Davis and some picks really enough for Millsap? I don't know what else we could give up.

For a 1-year rental? Pass....

So far this offseason is a miserable failure. We needed to upgrade one or two of the starting positions. Center was a weakness and power forward was a weakness. We went out and got a small forward. That's what doesn't make sense. Guard/small forward was not a weakness. We had aminu and harkless and crabbe all capable of playing small forward.

I like turner. I think he's a decent player and I want him on the team.... But he isn't a legit third option and he wasn't one of our main needs.

So unless Neil has some major shit up his sleeves, it's looking like an epic failure for what was supposed to be huge offseason for us.

We now have Layman and Turner....sounds like a law firm. Hey, it's a start. We might keep more guys from last season than I thought. Olshey probably knows what Leonard, Crabbe and Harkless are being offered and he's said he's matching for Crabbe...I'd say we might lose Leonard or Mo or both. Could bring back Henderson if the price is right. If Leonard gets lowballed, I think he stays in Portland on an affordable contract

Don't worry, man. We're meeting with Austin Rivers, next....

Seriously. Olshey will spin it in his special little way and fans will buy it. But I've lost some trust in him if he doesn't pull something big off.

C'mon Bones...everybody spins all this shit their own little special way..big is what the team looks like as a unit, not an individual. This is getting interesting...enjoy the ride as it unfolds...he's not done. Didn't get the guy folks wanted so why is anyone surprised?
