I know salaries are way out of wack this summer but I'll still be surprised if Henderson gets lost to what Turner just signed for.

Hard to say. Probably depends if someone sees him as a starter.

Turner is a replacement for Henderson. Of the Blazers renounce him, they get $9 mil of cap space back. It was going to cost close to what Turner got to retain Henderson so there's not much of a difference.
So in an offseason with max cap space we make a lateral move and replace Henderson with Turner. WE DON'T EVEN GET BETTER!

I'm getting more and more pissed about this. So stupid.

Some team could see him as a starter....but it won't be a quality team. Maybe a bad team will overpay for him.

Yeah....that wasn't the point. If NY and LA were good, I could understand losing out to them....but they are horrible so no one wants to go there. I get Dwight going to ATL vs POR. It's his hometown, it is much more of a multi-cultural city and they are just as good recently as Portland. Milwaukee is historically terrible and Memphis outside of a healthy season or two of Ground and Pound, really haven't done anything either. They have the ability to be better but always seem to have someone hurt.

If Portland is going to lose out to teams like Milwaukee, Memphis, Utah, Charlotte....teams of that stature, that is what is tough to take.

Milwaukee was in a better position last year than Portland. Portland looked to be in a complete rebuild.

Memphis has been in 2 western conference semi's and western conference finals 3 out the last 6 years.

I don't see why Portland is automatically the better situation. Not saying it isn't, but it's certainly not a given.

Can either keep crying or look at the next step. I'll go with B.

I'm all for Gasol. Don't care about his age. He's got at least two productive seasons left in him.

If Gasol GOD FORBID goes elsewhere, trade time.

Larry Sanders would be cool. Austin Rivers would be cool.

Yep, just roll with it.

So?

LA and NY are missing out on big names as well. Big f'ing deal.

Besides, Memphis with their players has a better track record the past few years than Portland does with its current roster. There's no guarantee a healthy Portland is better than a healthy Memphis.
There isn't but I think we are built for more playoff success than they are. We have two all-star/all-NBA level guards who can create for themselves or others and if we retain our assets we have a plethora of shooting and defense.

Memphis has some dogs though, but they just don't have any players that can take over a game imo.

Turner doesn't ft the system to me. We already have an issue with harkless, and aminu making threes, even though aminu has come along a little in that department. Having turner chuck threes doesn't interest me and not saying that will be his role but in a stotts offense, you basically have to shoot threes. I have never been high on turner. I just don't get what olshey is doing. I bought his bullshit last year because to me it was impressive with what he could do so quick after Lamarcus left. If all we have to speak for is turner this summer then I lost all faith in this dude. It's not his fault for chandler signing at Memphis but the Evan turner decision is just a really weird one to me

Yeah I don't think he will be chucking up threes. Stotts offense also allows for attacking the basket.

Neither Aminu nor Harkless are good ball handlers. We need someone bigger than Dame and CJ who actually are. Against some teams you need 3 ball handlers on the court at the same time, and they can't all be 6'2" or 6'3".

I think the Blazers disagree with you about Turner since it looks like they plan to start him at SF. That said, from an interview I heard where Henderson said he wants to start, my guess is that he told Olshey he's not coming back. Getting a player every bit as good and maybe better, is not worse than just losing Henderson.

I would love to see us get Pau. Any chance of that or has he signed else where? Older but nice fit next to Dame and CJ

If signing Noah to a big contract is the knickiest thing off the offseason, then singing turner and mahinmi is the portlandest thing of the offseason.

I'm having flash backs to people flipping shit last FA. What happened that time, can someone remind me?

I left because I couldn't conform to the positive nature of this forum.

Neil runs a tite ship. The culture of this team I give him a ton of credit for. But he sucks in acquiring talent or talent that moves the needle in his own words. He has shown a lack of creativity during the draft. He has struggled to market this situation to any premier player in free agency. And he has done very little to bring that caliber player in via trade. I just think he is overrated and he has hurt the team from a talent standpoint with the way he operates.

Oh fuck. As if this couldnt get any more depressing

How many drinks would this forum have gone through if at 8:55 last night someone had a time machine and went back and told us Evan Turner and Ian Mahinmi (if we're lucky) would be our free agent signings

They would have argued with you and told you that you were an idiot. That stars would take pay cuts to sign with us because portland is a destination for free agents.

Positive nature? Half the board are on suicide watch and the other half are getting drunk.

I think you're either looking for a miracle worker or a bad-ass enforcer who can make free agents sign here against their will. Unfortunately, Olshey seems to be merely human.

Speaking of which, how's Pat Riley doing?

It's nice to have you back, buddy.

The quality of offseason moves I can handle, the predictable meltdown I'm kinda sick of.
This!!! Panic attacks, angst and drama...I'm almost to the "see you in November" stage after this last couple of days..sucks the joy out of the process everytime.

I'm find myself automatically ignoring certain posters content with their continual record playing woes.

The spin doctors that dont call it like it is sucks the fun out of it too. Call a spade a spade. This contract is absolute shit.
